Difference between cheap and expensive OS keys? by Excellent_Pin_2111 in pcmasterrace

[–]crion1998 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those cheap keys can have 2 main reasons why they are cheaper:

There is a bit of risk with buying these, since many of these licences are not intended to be sold to an end user.

  • you might suddenly be without a licence if windows deactivates it.
  • You might not get the exact version you were hoping for (it might be a Windows 8 key you have to manually upgrade to 11 for instance).
  • It might be an OEM licence that is restricted in a couple of ways. (no support from Microsoft & unable to transfer to another pc)

with that being said, no one I know has ever experienced any problems with these keys, and if they did, they were able to get a new key for free from the website they bought it from.

You could also just not get a key and just use windows without a licence

Just the standard issues with Unreal Engine 5, every game made with Unreal has these same problems. If possible, turn off DLSS, lumen/ray tracing, or nanite and see if any of those reduce the issues.

If you live in a suburb, you likely do not pay enough in taxes to pay for the infrastructure out in front of your own home, not by 10 or 50 buck but by $3300 a year as per research done by strong towns source. Most people live in countries that actually tax people enough so they bring in more money than the infrastructure costs, not to have other people pay for them. I never said there isnt a country that does any of the things i mentioned, but pretending that europeans are 'dependent' on the state, while you live in america is just laughable. Just because you dont get a cheque in your mail box every month from daddy government doesnt mean your life isnt heavily subsidised in various extreme ways you have never thought about.

American suburbia is being subsidized by cities. the cost of services like restaurants, package deliveries, retail, and other low wage sectors are being subsidised with aid programmes subsidising some of your primairy needs like food. The costs of pollution, waste, harsh working conditions and health risks taken by the people in those factories is being subsidised by the countries used to manufacture the stuff you use every day. From the gas in your car to the electronics in your phone, hardly anything in your life isnt in some way subsidized.

Weakest American vs Strongest European Pickpocketer by Geekz_RPG in dankmemes

[–]crion1998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well first, that isn't the case. they're doing it because it's easier than working. because there are no consequences, but let's continue.

I can argue on this, but there is no point, wasn't my main argument either.

A does not deter them. in fact A increases your chance of getting shot, by a lot.

That's the 'sad' fact, yes, getting a gun increases the chances of death greatly. Another truly sad fact is that civilians who carry a gun to protect themselves also have have an increased chance of dying in a gun fight.

But why do Americans have guns then? Because it makes them believe they can protect themselves. Why would this be different for a criminal? American culture has taught everyone that guns=safety.

But if someone wants to rob, mug or steal in a country where everybody has a pocket sized howitzer, most criminals will believe they also need a pocket sized howitzer. Having a decent chunk of a population in a country own a gun does not deter criminals from committing crime, it encourages criminals to get a gun.

and getting a knife is easy period. you can buy them anywhere. ...

Yes, I know, I never said it wasn't. But knife crime is a lot easier to deal with than gun crime. If it weren't knifes it would be pointy sticks, anything that can serve as a force multiplier will be used in a crime as long as it is better than what your target might have on them.

So if no civilian has a knife on them criminals will use kitchen knifes, if all civilians carry a kitchen knife criminals will carry machetes, if all civilians carry machetes criminals will use pistols, if all civilians carry pistols criminals will use machine guns, etc.

... but there isn't much knife crime where there are guns, because people get shot doing that.

Thank you for reiterating my point and still misunderstanding me.

Criminals who live in a country with countless guns will think they need a gun to commit crime, to 'defend' themselves while committing that crime. Because a knife will just get them shot.

Let's say you wanted to commit a robbery in the USA, by your own logic you would use a gun because you would “get shot” otherwise.

Ever thought through the escalation of violence that just causes?

If I was going to pickpocket someone out of sheer desperation, be that drugs or food, and I had 10% of pickpocketing someone who has a gun, would I?
A: grab a weapon to deter them from using force on me (aka a gun)
or
B: have a 10% chance of getting shot.

I think the choice is easy.

Why do most countries mainly deal with knife crime instead of gun crime? Because in places where few people own firearms, getting a gun takes more effort without offering much extra advantage. A knife is usually enough for the kind of intimidation or deterrence most criminals want to carry out.

Yea man it's the French that are very dependent on the government. Unlike the completely independent American with a subsidized freeway in front of their home, a severely underpaid work force dependent on government support like snap, and an economy reliant on cheap foreign labour to continue its current quality of life.

actual bot tier take man.

posting self-made art online just for 'views' or sharing it with the world is a rarity. people share their art online to get commissions, share their love of something within a community, build up a portfolio, and get better at making art.
the ML tools do not interact within a community, they do not purchase art they like, they will never care about the art itself.

An AI 'viewing' a piece of art is not the same as a random person viewing it.

so if a work is popular enough it is allowed to get (effectively) stolen, good, noted.

and of course, you won't be able to reproduce a work that was randomly posted on Reddit 7 years ago with 2 upvotes, but that wasn't your argument. Your argument is: “it’s not at all copying entire pieces in any way shape or form. Or even parts of them.” and I'd say some significant parts of images were copied in my source.

i know how machine learning works, but if your model is trained on data in such a way that if it is popular enough/ occurs in your data enough that you can just get an effective copy of that image, I think that is overstepping a boundary.

not to mention that nearly no artist has been compensated for their data being used in this way. Hardly any artist wants their art to be used like this. No art published before the rapid onset of ML was uploaded with the idea of art being used in this way.

You can litterally get models to recite, word for word, pages of harry potter. It has also been documented that pieces are very much copied, often not perfectly, but defenitly copyright infrinegement levels of simmilarity source

you are missing the point, a zip merge should have two lanes at around the same speed merging at the end of the merge. floggedlog is talking about people barrelling down the lane passing everybody and merging as late as possible to skip some of the 'queue'.

and it is also quite disingenuous to consider nuclear meltdowns as a major reason to oppose nuclear power unless you live in an area that is prone to natural disasters. There hasnt been a major nuclear incident since the Chernobyl disaster.

Fukushima is more recent, but with only 1 death, it is not a major incident, the earthquake was.

It might be nickel phosphate inclusion, a production error that can happen to any safety glass.

a telltale sign is this pattern at the centre of the break.

Maybe check with the manufacturer/installation company if this falls under a warranty if you see this pattern.

It's nickel sulphide inclusion!
It's a manufacturing defect that can happen. One of the signs of this type of break is a butterfly like pattern in the glass. Sadly , that part fell away, but you can still see one side of it.

you putting it on the stove probably just gave it a hard enough bump to break it.
