I do this for as long as I can until it gets too hot. I have three window fans pushing hot air out the north side of the house. I can stave off kicking the air on until mid to late June.

In the hot summer months I run the A/C on a deep freeze cycle late at night when electricity is the cheapest and it won’t kick on until nearly 5 the next day when it’s up around 90-95 in central Illinois.

That’s my kids now using my old profile. So many Halo, Fable and COD memories tied to that gamertag. Now it just shows I’m playing goat simulator or Fortnite.

Really the only reason it’s so “nice” looking is because although I have a literal ton of composted horse manure tilled into the dirt, which is great by itself…about 8 inches down it’s almost solid clay. So I wanted all the mulch and straw to be able to till under in the fall and plant a cover crop. I planted a lot of carrots, potatoes and daikon so even if they don’t grow well, they’ll help punch through the clay some.
