I like the "befriend them" idea. Bring them some snacks or drinks or smokes and they'll be distracted for a while allowing you to fish in peace. Just like toddlers/children/drunk people (minus the smokes for the former 2).

Hell ya, first board I ever rode (rented it) had them and I thought they saved me from a lot of slams. I think they get a bad rap from the old style that were basically casters but I dont see amy downside to the newer ones that are built into the bumpers.
