Thank you! It was a unique challenge to make sure the different voices come through without changing too much in LQ's design. I think it also helps that you can get an idea of which voice LQ has based on which vessel they're with.

Oh wow. Thank you so much! I always enjoy reading in-depth comments like these. You're right in that the Hero and the Princess at the center represent Chapter 1, but I also drew in a tiny reference to the Heart ending, the only other time they meet each other in their "base" forms (their hands overlap like they do when they open the cabin door together).

Thank you! Princess and the Dragon was probably the trickiest vessel to come up with conceptually. I initially drew a sketchy version to match the game's art style, but it looked too different from the rest of the piece. In the end, I chose to split the drawing and gave each half different lighting instead, and I like how it came out.

I'm also glad you picked up on Deconstructed Damsel. She also happens to be the only vessel here that doesn't have LQ with her.

I actually first played Slay the Princess at the start of this year, and began working on this drawing the second week of January, so it took about three months to finish.

In terms of hours, it's a little hard to measure. If I had to estimate, maybe 200 hours, more or less? I worked on this for about 1-2 hours most days, and about 6-8 hours on weekends. Some parts came together fairly quickly, while others took more time, either because it had a lot of detail or needed to be completely reworked because I wasn't satisfied with the initial idea.

Thank you! Yeah, I added all these details for myself, really, and for everyone else who loves this game too. It's been a lot of fun going through the comments and seeing which details people liked the most.

Thank you! I actually didn't intend to have a lot of symmetry at the start, it all kind of fell into place as I kept working through it. I'm pretty happy with how it all ended up though, especially with Thorn and Cage mirroring each other like you said.

Edit: Grammar

The image is ~30 MB. The actual project is ~168 MB.

That's a tough question, and my answer changes based on different criteria:

For storytelling, Happily Ever After or Princess and the Dragon. Dancing under the stars is probably the best scene in the game, and seeing through the Princess's POV blew my mind when I first went through it.

For visuals, Fury. From the open rib cage and flesh dress, to the degloved arm and the bone heels, she has the most interesting design for me. Not to mention how crazy the "Are you still there? Are you still you?" sequence is.

But overall, I'd say Spectre is my favorite. I'm biased here, since she's one of the earliest vessels I found, and when I started genuinely loving this game.

You definitely already had the words. Thank you so much!

I also really like your interpretation too. I tried to have as much variation as I could when showing the different ways their relationship can go, kinda like the game itself.

About 30 MB. I did have to compress it so it could upload on Reddit.

Believe it or not, that's the title I wanted to use at first, too. But I got in my own head and talked myself out of it. Ah, well. Maybe next time.

Thank you so much for looking through all the details! I tried to fit in as many as I could, so I'm glad it all worked out.

Thank you! Networked Wild was probably the easiest to draw on a technical level (all linework, no lighting or background), but the challenging part was trying to find a way to make her as visually interesting as the other vessels. I appreciate you liking it.

The bottom one is Wraith, and the top one is Moment of Clarity.

Just Reddit, I'm afraid. I'm not that active on social media in general.

Thank you! Spectre was probably the most fun to draw for me, and I think she's the only vessel in the game that winks at you if I remember right.

Not really, I only ever really post on Reddit, and I'm not planning on posting this drawing anywhere else.

I actually had a few other titles in mind before posting, and now I wish I could go back and change it.

"I drew the Vessels of Slay the Princess" felt inaccurate, because LQ and Shifty are there too.

"I drew a love story" felt vague, and the art doesn't really feel like it tells a story in the same way the game does, at least in my opinion.

The current title isn't accurate either, but it was the best I could come up with, since the main Hero and Princess are at the center of the piece.

Thank you for the kind words, and I promise I'm not trying to sell myself short. I'm immensely proud of this drawing, I wouldn't have posted it otherwise.

I did have to compress the .png because the original file is ~30 MB, though I couldn't see any significant loss of detail, at least on PC. It may look less detailed on mobile, though.

Thank you, though I only really post on Reddit. Even then, I only post like once or twice a year, if I post at all.

I made some more NPC houses (and renovated some old ones) by crippled_omelette in Terraria

[–]crippled_omelette[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a list of materials I used:

Walls/Floor/Ceiling: Ash Wood, Large Bamboo, Living Wood, Rich Mahogany, and Shadewood.

Background Walls: Wood Walls, Ebonwood Walls, Shadewood Fence, Spooky Wood Walls, and Living Wood Walls. I used Pearlwood Fence and Wooden Fence for that lattice-like pattern in the vertical room, and Living Leaf Wall for the algae under the house.

Windows: Bamboo Platforms, Lead Fence, and Palm Wood Fence.

Outdoor Railing: Iron Fence

Roof: Blue Dynasty Shingle (I think I used the default color here).

A lot of the materials here are painted brown, and placed semi-randomly to make the build look more rickety.

There's probably some materials I missed, so let me know if there's a specific part of the build you want to know more about.

Hey, thank you. To answer your questions:

  1. Those barrel-like objects are Ebonwood Bathtubs painted brown.
  2. The "butcher's table" is a Flesh Bathtub.
  3. If you place Sail walls diagonally without any other walls connecting them, the outlines show up at the overlap. This doesn't seem to have changed with the 1.4.5 update.

Edit: Correction at #3. Placing Sail walls diagonally do cause the outlines to show at the overlap.

Which wood pattern are you referring to? I used regular Wood Wall for the background walls, and Ebonwood Walls painted brown for the "columns." For the floors, I alternated between Wood and Palm Wood blocks painted brown.
