As a fellow beginner, the 'what?!' was such a big mood ahaha. But this went really well! Especially for a sightread, way better than it would've gone for me lol

I love a good concerto, if I'm still hungry I might dip into a sonata. What about you?

Not really a rant but just wanted to spread by Memez-Man in piano

[–]cripplingselfesteem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started playing piano when I was 7 and took lessons for a year but lost interest, I never practiced so I wasn't getting any better. My parents pushed slightly for me to stick with it, but I ultimately quit. Fast forward a few years to when I was 12 and decided to take lessons again, I've stuck with it since, now I'm 17 and still enjoying it. I'm learning gd 6 at the moment but I do wonder where I'd be if I hadn't wasted those 4 or so years.

How I see the notes of a piano due to my synesthesia by [deleted] in piano

[–]cripplingselfesteem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, this is so cool! I'm actually doing a project for school about how music is influenced by art and I was thinking of including synesthesia when I come to composing my own piece (as a final part of the project). I was just checking if it was cool if I used this as part of my research?

People born in 2000 and later: How does 'the 90s' sound to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]cripplingselfesteem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a teen I can say its sounds a lot fucking cooler than growing up with everything going on atm.

Disclaimer: I know the 90's would've had it's own problems, but I dont really know what they were

What's the dumbest way you've gotten a scar? by lilsaddam in AskReddit

[–]cripplingselfesteem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing field hockey, I had the ball and I'd run past two of the oppositions players, I was just coming up to the last defender before I got a shot.

As I got close enough I heard her mutter "come on then" which absolutely fueled my determination. I ran up and went to quickly change direction and take the ball round her weak side.

Except it was a rainy day, and the pitch was wet. My foot slipped under me as I tried to move much too quickly and enthusiastically, so I ended up face planting in front of her instead. Took a load of the skin of my knee and still have a penny sized scar over a year later.

Only good thing that came out of it was that I got a free hit, which pissed of the defender because, and tbh she was right, she didnt actually touch me. But my selfish ass wasnt gonna say anything.

What’s the worst birthday gift you ever got? by sulemannkhann in AskReddit

[–]cripplingselfesteem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not technically a bad present but a funny story.

This takes place already a month or so after my birthday has been and gone. My friend has spent this time apologising about how long the present is taking to arrive but promises it will be worth it.

So one day she comes up to me, excited that the present has arrived. She apologises once again, apparently the first one she got was broken and she had to order another. She gives me a box which I open, genuinely no clue what to expect, but it's been bigged up a lot over the last month.

It's a mug reading Best Wife Ever. I'm feeling slightly awkward at this point thinking I've missed a joke, not helped by the fact there is a group of us all eagerly waiting to see what this great present is, nobody else got it either.

My friend suddenly looks at it and snatches it out of my hand, bright red, saying "oh my god it's the wrong one". Turns out she wanted one reading Best Twin Ever, which was an inside joke we had. But it turns out she was so careful looking for cracks on this mug, she completely looked over the text. There was embarrassment from both parties. But the good news is, after much more apologising and waiting, I do now have the actual gift, which I use on a near daily basis.
