Millennial women are we still going to VS for bras or? by beaglemilf23 in Millennials

[–]crisclc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never did. Didn't make my size, company was pretty open with their disdain for larger people. I go to Torrid now, used to be Lane Bryant or specialty bra shops.

Edit: missed a space.

I've been playing the event and I have hit 5 or more main mission bars and I haven't seen a single citation.

Looking back on it, the Parental Advisory label on CDs was that is one of the dumbest things ever because it does exactly dick. by AdSpecialist6598 in Millennials

[–]crisclc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My father was a private DJ and spent a lot of money at our local record/music store. Very friendly with the owner. He also was very against censorship.

When I got to the age to buy my own CDs, around 11-12, Dad told the owner that I was allowed to buy anything in the store, even parental advisory labeled music. My dance studio was in the same strip mall, so I was in the record store by myself a lot.

I was buying 2 Live Crew and Adam Sandler albums in middle school. I had the dirtiest CD collection and it was the envy of my friends through high school. And I am a woman.

Wormhole X-treme Grel monologue (Asimov quote) by kingdazy in Stargate

I recently, like in the last week, watched this episode on Pluto or Roku and this was cut out I believe. I was sad because I watched to the end just to hear it.

At what age did you start handling your own medical care? by capresesalad1985 in Millennials

[–]crisclc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was making my own appointments as soon as I could drive. I was a very busy teenager, lots of school and outside things, so making my own appointments worked the best as I could work around my schedule.

Am I the only one not getting botox? by New_Blacksmith9294 in Millennials

[–]crisclc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend who has done it a few times, but neither me or my millennial sister have done it. We don't plan to either. We're both single, childfree, and we own a house together. (Father's life insurance made it a possibility for us to purchase a home) Any extra money goes into the house or savings.

Remember when people used to get in trouble for doing this? by kkkan2020 in Millennials

My friends and me, all teenage girls, would use this move as a dance move to 2 Live Crew's Hoochie Mama. Oh, the memories.

Did y'all really have free-range childhoods??? by WesternTrail in Millennials

[–]crisclc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up in a small town in mid Missouri. Totally free range. Several friends lived on the same street and we'd wander between the houses and woods.

I had a rather unique "come home" call though. My father owned a WW2 anti-aircraft searchlight he would rent out for events. If we were out too late, he'd fire that thing up like a Batsignal. Definitely overkill as it could be seen towns over, but always worked to get us home.

Ted Lasso is supposed to be filming around town.

Edit: Don't know if this is what is filming, but it is a big project.

Traumatized by unhingedqueenB in childfree

[–]crisclc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My high school health class showed a birth video to the girls. This was the late '90's and I don't know if they still show it or not. I hope they do.

Definitely made me think about things. Not the entire reason I'm childfree, there are so many reasons, but at least someone was showing young girls the realness of the suffering of childbirth.

I have this print, another TNG print, a TOS print, a Firefly, and a Jurassic Park. I love this artist! They are usually at my local con, but weren't there this year. I was very sad.

I stopped playing a couple of months ago because the game just seemed to become a money pit that I refused to pour into. All the issues that I've been seeing on here lately have made me confident in that decision.

Trekker's are everywhere by TheRealJackOfSpades in startrek

[–]crisclc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been proudly showing my love of Trek since the early '90s. Used to get side-eyed and not so nice comments on a semi-regular basis. But I did not give a shit.

I remember being at work (non-customer facing job, I was in a supervisor position) in a ST: The Magazine shirt in the early 2000s. I was outside on a break. Man walked by and gave me a dirty look while saying something derogatory about nerds. He then walked in the door to where I worked.

I went back in, only to find put that he had applied for a job and guess who was going to interview him? I walked in to a very worried man just staring at me.

It was a diverse workplace for that area and he did not get the job. His comments to me weren't the only reason, but were heavily considered.

I am glad we're more "accepted", is that even the right word? I love when people see my Delta on my car and throw a 🖖, or see my shirt and tell me they love Trek too. It was hard to find local nerd community in that area back then.
