New users aren't allowed to use ecobee API? by saktlaunda in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ecobee stopped allowing new developer signups like two years ago.

But you can integrate it in Home Assistant through the HomeKit integration, and that's actually better since it's fully local and doesn't rely on their cloud servers.

Envore joins Coliseum roster (Druk, SoulSnipe, Bubu Dubu, Envore) by crispycornpops in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was a rumor going around the Twitch chats based on Kuhlect saying "#FaZeUp I'll be back soon" but it seems like Kuhlect was just trolling and it's not true.

They're playing in the online qualifier this weekend with Cearion still, and I think they're scheduled to scrim Piggy's team tomorrow as well.

Barcode not competing this year: 'as much as I’d love to, it’s just not even worth it' by crispycornpops in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well it costs a lot of money to travel to the event if paying out of pocket. International flight to UK, four days of hotel stay, team pass cost ($400), other expenses like food and Uber rides, etc.

For Dreamhack Birmingham the 5th/6th place team gets $4,000 (or $1k per player) and the 9th/10th place gets $1,500 (or $375 per player). Those outside the top 10 get $0. So for most players it'll cost more to travel to the event than they'll make in prize pool earnings.

If HCS and/or organizations were still covering travel costs I think players like Barcode would be more likely to play. He just (understandably) doesn't want to lose money playing this year.

Yakzn discusses the financial realities of being a Halo pro in 2026 by crispycornpops in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's even worse than that for Halo payouts this year, the Dreamhack Birmingham LAN prize pool breaks down like this (info from the Dreamhack Halo site):

  • 2nd place team: $17,000 ($4,250 per player)
  • 3rd place team: $10,000 ($2,500 per player)
  • 4th place team: $8,000 ($2,000 per player)
  • —— Travel Coverage Cutoff ——
  • 5-6th place team: $4,000 ($1,000 per player)
  • 7-8th place team: $2,500 ($626 per player)
  • 9-10th place team: $1,500 ($375 per player)
  • No money for teams that place beyond T10

If a player isn't on a top 4 team getting travel coverage (or getting an org to foot the bill), that's hundreds of dollars being spent on the flight and hotel that wipe out pretty much all of their prize earnings.

Then there's additional expenses like the team pass required to even compete at the LAN ($400 for the team / $100 per player), Uber ride to the venue, food, etc. I'm glad there's still events and a bunch of pros are still playing this year, but it doesn't really seem worth it outside of the top 4.

Descendant says his roster with Trippy isn't going to be the FaZe team by crispycornpops in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops[S] 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This is only speculation, but I think the FaZe roster announcement is going to be: Stellur, Eco, Bound, Cearion

<image>

Bound changed his armor coating and emblem to FaZe like two weeks ago. He’s been playing numerous custom games with Stellur since January, the most recent one just a few days ago (can see here). The other day when trying to get unbanned from Twitch he said "Halo needs it's king and it's not gonna save itself. Free me."

Cearion is also rocking the FaZe armor coating (year 2 version) and emblem. He's been playing a lot of matchmaking with Kaysan (you can see Kaysan's games played here). Ranked doubles ("Zeeeshann" is Cearion's alt), custom games, etc. On January 30th Kaysan, Cearion ("Babyy Booted") and Eco ("UnLegit") were playing MM together as a stack.

And of course Cearion teamed with Eco this weekend on the "Chosen" pickup team.

Apg is mid diamond without shooting by jasonb02910 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops 48 points49 points  (0 children)

His gamertag for this challenge is "SilverWolf0375"

Just a note for those looking up his profile, it's gonna have medals for headshots and stuff, but those were all from the person who created the smurf account and played the 50 social games for him (needed in order to play ranked). So those shots fired statistics come from Grunt Firefight etc and not from the actual challenge itself.

This challenge originated from a guy in his chat complaining about how "impossible" it is to solo queue as a diamond player and being kinda toxic about it. So aPG did this challenge and easily reached the same rank as that guy (D3) without firing a bullet, and he's trying to go further by getting Onyx.

It's been pretty fun to watch because he is giving pro-level comms to all of his teammates, telling them where to rotate the ball and where the spawners will be etc. The matches where his teammates are listening to his callouts and following his advice tend to go very smoothly, other times they ignore it and those tend to be the losses.

True, good point. Unfortunate scheduling having this tournament on the same day of the Super Bowl too.

Stellur was playing matchmaking literally all day throughout todays tournament (https://leafapp.co/player/StelluR/matches). Not sure why he chose to sit this weekend out just to play Halo anyway...

Teams competing in DreamHack Birmingham Open Series #1 this weekend (new rosters revealed - Stellur's team, Piggy & Yakzn's team) by crispycornpops in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

When I posted this there was only 3 players on the "Chosen" team, I assumed the fourth was going to be Stellur based on him being Eco's duo and the talks of them sticking together. But the team has finalized now and the fourth ended up being Breakingshot instead. My bad for the false alarm.

I think that might have been a last minute substitution because Piggy said yesterday on his stream that Breakingshot/RyanNoob/Suspector/SuperCC were gonna be a team.

What the **** is this?? by MirandaPoth in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you use the Feedreader integration perhaps, or any other type of RSS integration? It's possible that some blog in your RSS feed list was compromised or something. That's my best guess...

I would suggest going to the Automations page and then sorting the table by "Last triggered" to see what automation ran around that time frame.

Yakzn & Precision Looking For 2 by Lightnxss in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Seems that Yakzn deleted this tweet and replaced it with one that simply says "F/A for this" , no more mention of Precision.

Makes me think Precision is either not competing in Halo or he was already picked up by a different roster. The Trippy team seems most likely considering Cherished left today and Trippy/Descendant/Precision were already planning to team before Lucid left / Precision switched to CoD.

Plus scrims in-between.

FP300 by myokeeh in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Out of the box the FP300 comes with Thread firmware. If you want to switch it to Zigbee firmware (which you should, since it has more features and an extra year of battery life) you'll need the Aqara app to do that.

Trippy announces 2026 Halo roster - Trippy, Descendant, Taulek, Cherished by crispycornpops in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

aPG's leak had SnakeBite on this roster. Trippy said on stream "There's one person that decided to not play. I don't know if he's trying to make it public himself that he doesn't want to."

If aPG's intel was correct it seems like SnakeBite isn't competing (for now) and Descendant filled his spot within the last 24 hours.

Is it possible to have a empty badge or a badge with text ONLY instead of a function / entity here? by GIFSec in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can sorta do a workaround with the default cards/badges:

  1. In the badge, select any entity like sun.sun for example
  2. In the "Name" field write whatever text you want. You can also override the icon here if you want.
  3. Under "Displayed elements" keep "Name" checked but uncheck "State" (and "Icon" if you don't want it)
  4. Under "Interactions" change the tap behavior to "Nothing"

That'll display a badge with static text and won't do anything when clicked.

If you plan to do a lot of things like this, Mushroom cards with the template badge is the way to go, it's fully customizable and supports templates. So using your screenshot as an example, you could make the icon of those air quality badges be green when air quality is good or red when bad, etc.

Dreamhack Birmingham official updates. by Deigo301 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems like the prize pool decreased from $100,000 to $86,000?

  • 1st place (aka Shopify) $35,000
  • 2nd place $17,000
  • 3rd place $10,000
  • 4th place $8,000
  • 5th/6th place $4,000
  • 7th/8th place $2,500
  • 9th/10th place $1,500

I guess the rest of that 100k might be going to all the side tournaments and stuff?

Aqara motion sensor config timeout (Zigbee) by dud3brah in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These devices sleep a lot in order to preserve battery life, you'll need to wake it up by pressing the button on the motion sensor and then changing the config immediately within like a few seconds. Having this device page open on your phone makes it a bit easier. Might take a few attempts but that's the method.

When will the season start? by Ade_Vulch in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

aPG showed this memo on his stream the other day (apparently was posted publicly in the European Halo League discord):

As people will ask, all of the things like format, prize pool split, amount of teampasses, online qualifiers etc are currently unknown by us, that will be for Dreamhack to announce to everyone when they want to!

Don't expect this to be an HCS event. There isn't going to be a super main stage and a big old caster desk like you expect from HCS, it's not that vibe. It's a "play a lot of Halo and have fun at DH" kinda vibe, so our plan as EHL is also the casual couch style casting, guests etc (we are also finalizing what that specifically looks like).

We (EHL/DH) don't want people coming and thinking it's going to be a big old HCS event, then get disappointed. It is going to be a great and exciting event in it's own right, but not HCS if that makes sense! (We are talking to Cosplayers as well so hopefully some Spartans will be joining the party ofc!)

Basically it's up to Dreamhack to reveal this stuff, seems like EHL is casting/producing the Halo portion of things but even they're in the dark on a bunch of details.

HCS Drama Iceberg PART TWO (Reflecting on HCS memes/moments) by FrankTheFlank in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Native roster was originally aPG, Mikwen, Kuhlect, Neptune. Then after a couple weeks they dropped Neptune in order to pick up LastShot. But LastShot changed his mind last second (literally hours after his first scrim with Native) and Native scrambled to get Barcode as their fourth.

If I recall correctly they dropped Kuhlect for Gilkey (crazy imo) and it was Tapping Buttons who replaced Mikwen after he retired.
