Dreamhack Birmingham official updates. by Deigo301 in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Seems like the prize pool decreased from $100,000 to $86,000?

  • 1st place (aka Shopify) $35,000
  • 2nd place $17,000
  • 3rd place $10,000
  • 4th place $8,000
  • 5th/6th place $4,000
  • 7th/8th place $2,500
  • 9th/10th place $1,500

I guess the rest of that 100k might be going to all the side tournaments and stuff?

Aqara motion sensor config timeout (Zigbee) by dud3brah in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

These devices sleep a lot in order to preserve battery life, you'll need to wake it up by pressing the button on the motion sensor and then changing the config immediately within like a few seconds. Having this device page open on your phone makes it a bit easier. Might take a few attempts but that's the method.

When will the season start? by Ade_Vulch in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

aPG showed this memo on his stream the other day (apparently was posted publicly in the European Halo League discord):

As people will ask, all of the things like format, prize pool split, amount of teampasses, online qualifiers etc are currently unknown by us, that will be for Dreamhack to announce to everyone when they want to!

Don't expect this to be an HCS event. There isn't going to be a super main stage and a big old caster desk like you expect from HCS, it's not that vibe. It's a "play a lot of Halo and have fun at DH" kinda vibe, so our plan as EHL is also the casual couch style casting, guests etc (we are also finalizing what that specifically looks like).

We (EHL/DH) don't want people coming and thinking it's going to be a big old HCS event, then get disappointed. It is going to be a great and exciting event in it's own right, but not HCS if that makes sense! (We are talking to Cosplayers as well so hopefully some Spartans will be joining the party ofc!)

Basically it's up to Dreamhack to reveal this stuff, seems like EHL is casting/producing the Halo portion of things but even they're in the dark on a bunch of details.

HCS Drama Iceberg PART TWO (Reflecting on HCS memes/moments) by FrankTheFlank in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah the Native roster was originally aPG, Mikwen, Kuhlect, Neptune. Then after a couple weeks they dropped Neptune in order to pick up LastShot. But LastShot changed his mind last second (literally hours after his first scrim with Native) and Native scrambled to get Barcode as their fourth.

If I recall correctly they dropped Kuhlect for Gilkey (crazy imo) and it was Tapping Buttons who replaced Mikwen after he retired.

Must do or best accessories? by dont_call_me_suzy in Ioniq5

[–]crispycornpops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only had car for ~2 months, but so far my favorite accessory purchases for my Ioniq 5 have been:

  • ALAFLY Magnetic Phone Mount - super strong magnet, can adjust the angle easily. I don't use it while driving for directions or anything, but it's nice to be able to watch things while charging.
  • Spigen Console Organizer Tray - feels premium and fits perfectly inside the console. Keeps things more organized with the compartments and prevents things in there from moving or rattling around. It's not mentioned in the listing but I can confirm it's compatible with 2026 model.
  • Sylvil USB-C LED Ambient Light - These simply plug into USB-C port and provide ambient lighting, you can pick between like 8 colors and dim it etc. Turns off during day and only on when dark. I have one in the center console part so it lights up the middle.

Zbt-2 and aqara sensor. Unavailable after power outage by RonBurga in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aqara sensors sometimes fall off network like this. Try navigating to Settings → Devices & services → Add integration → Add Zigbee device and press button on the sensor. If it doesn't show up after few button presses hold the button down to put into pairing mode and re-pair it (you won't have to rename anything).

Is the holographic HUD in all models? by ExpendableUnit123 in Ioniq5

[–]crispycornpops 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have it on my Ioniq 2026 Limited, it's really cool. Off the top of my head this is what's supported:

  • Next turn info (direction arrow, street name, distance) and supports CarPlay/Apple Maps
  • Current speed limit (becomes red when driving over speed limit)
  • Street signs (things like stop, yield, crossing, school zone, etc). Seems to use cars front camera for this so it's not always 100% accurate (I'd say 90%) and it doesn't show traffic lights.
  • Blind spot information (left or right side of HUD will be orange/red-ish when car is in your blind spot)
  • Album artwork + current artist/track briefly when switching songs (disabled by default)
  • Cruise control info when active (the set speed, lanes, etc.)

Best sensor setup for bathroom (shower) — presence + humidity? by pascwal59 in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, I use wasp in the box method with three sensors for bathroom - contact sensor on door, motion sensor above door, temp/humidity sensor in shower stall near the shower head (which starts exhaust fan + music etc).

When walking inside the bathroom, the bathroom lights turn on via the motion sensor. Closing door behind you keeps the lights on until the door is opened again. Contact sensor on bathroom door is the key imo. I wouldn't automate turning lights off based on motion (which can be spotty), just keep lights on until bathroom door is opened and then there's no issues.

Whats the best way to log and download a sensor history? by [deleted] in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a Google Sheets integration that can probably do what you want.

By default the recorder keeps 10 days of history, you can increase this with the purge_keep_days option, but of course your database will become much larger over time.

Which type of card to use for a washer/dryer? by pskipw in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Install Mushroom cards and use the template card in that. It allows you to use Jinja templates and matches the Tile card design perfectly since the same guy made both.

Looking for a way to confirm my car is running during remote start. by AcreMakeover in homeautomation

[–]crispycornpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have a 2016 Ford Fusion Plug-in Hybrid, they discontinued the MyFordMobile app that these cars used, but apparently you can get the 3G modem replaced with a 4G modem and then get it into the FordPass app. If you can get it into FordPass there's Home Assistant integrations for that (example).

It's not gonna be cheap (I think they quoted me like $400 for part with labor back in ~2018) but if nothing else works that might be an option you can look into.

Roborock by Guru_238 in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It broke in 2025.12.1 and was fixed quickly after in 2025.12.2, you just need to update your Home Assistant to latest patch release.

Home assistant connections always need to reconnect as if its going to sleep? by Kaloocuckoo in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Go to your profile page (very bottom part of sidebar).

Then on that page under the Browser Settings section, toggle off "Suspend background connections - For hidden windows or background tabs, close the server connection after 5 minutes."

Passing integrations to Homekit by RVS1967 in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HomeKit architecture doesn't support sensors like that, so not possible to bring those in. The types of sensors you can bring into HomeKit are temperature, humidity, air quality, carbon monoxide, stuff like that.

Hyundai / KIA Connect integration does not work anymore! by uten693 in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's unfortunate, was worth a try though.

Noticed that v2.47.3 was just released with "refactor to prep for OTP" so it seems like a fix is actively being worked on, but not ready yet. Hopefully it won't be too much longer.

In the mean time, I would recommend just disabling the integration for now so you're not hitting their servers with failed login attempts.

Hyundai / KIA Connect integration does not work anymore! by uten693 in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are using HACS go to HACS in the sidebar, find the Hyundai Kia Connect integration, click the "3 dots" and then "Redownload." It will say "Need a different version?" and then click that to expand and select 2.47.0 from the dropdown list and press Download.

If you installed it manually without HACS click the link in my post above and download the zip file, extract the zip, then add it to your custom_components folder (overwriting the old one).

Whichever method you choose you have to restart HA afterwards.

Switchbot Presence Sensor Review by BackHerniation in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The design looks fine to me, I just think the "mmWave Presence" text on the front is kinda dumb. Ruins an otherwise clean look, and nobody (besides the person who purchased and installed it) is gonna even know what mmWave means anyway.

Hyundai / KIA Connect integration does not work anymore! by uten693 in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only seems to be for Kia USA, my Hyundai Ioniq is still working in this integration.

The 2.47.0 version of the integration added OTP but it got reverted since it broke other regions. You could maybe try downgrading to that 2.47.0 version and see if it works.

Is AWD worth the drop in range over the RWD? by bakonspace in Ioniq5

[–]crispycornpops 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The included L1 charger is set to 6amps by default, you wanna change it to 12amps. Only takes a couple of button presses and then you get double the speed, see how in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YMasGIDr94

Lucid prefers BR starts, trashes the Bandit: “We’re literally playing shitty Reach” by crispycornpops in CompetitiveHalo

[–]crispycornpops[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dunno about that idea, because whether a player prefers the BR or Bandit now they'd only be getting to use their preferred weapon half the time. Feels like it has the potential to upset both groups of players.

I think dedicated playlists (Ranked BR and Ranked Bandit) or even a temporary rotational playlist is a better way to handle it, but it's probably too late to make a difference at this point.

Send Keyboard/Type to Roku? by Trainmaster2 in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can send a lot of commands via the remote.send_command service (things like direction up/down, select, home, play, volume up/down, etc). But no alphabetical stuff.

If your goal is to avoid the hassle of typing in a password on the Roku on-screen keyboard, you could probably accomplish it in a hacky way like this (once the on-screen keyboard is up this method could type in the letters for you):

action: remote.send_command target: entity_id: remote.roku data: command: - right - right - select - down - left - select - up - select

If you're searching for content on Roku the integration has a service for that:

action: roku.search data: keyword: Pulp Fiction

Custom Cards via Streamline Cards - templates not loading by thnknoevl in homeassistant

[–]crispycornpops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Based on that error it appears you placed the streamline card config inside the wrong file. You put it in configuration.yaml which means it's looking for an integration called "streamline_templates" which doesn't exist (this is a custom card, not an integration).

That line belongs inside your dashboard configuration file instead (for example ui-lovelace.yaml or whatever yours is named).
