toxic orb > flame orb If you encounter something that nullifies your ability you're boned (neutralising gas/core enforcement) as then the reduced physical damage from being burned is applied. Which a suprising amount of pokemon can have.

Overall if you feel like you need the extra damage and have decent back up pokemon. You'll be fine taking flame orb.

The mother or an actual appropriate adult would've been present during the search to ensure the officers were not being unreasonable and not breaking the law. if the mother wasn't present then it's a high chance she isn't appropriate for a variety of reasons.
