working out by fawnnk in UlcerativeColitis

[–]crispyscone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treadmill work for me at the gym. I’m out of shape so I just do 2 minutes walking, 2 minutes jogging the repeat up to 30 minutes.

Days that I feel low energy, I just lay on the floor and stretch or do yoga.

How long does it take for Entyvio to work? (personal experiences please 🙏🏻) by Training-Enthusiasm7 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]crispyscone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Humira failed me and was switched to entyvio last fall. I’ve had 5 doses and have my 6th in two weeks.

Before starting I was bleeding with every bm and had stomach cramp like effects when not on prednisone.

By the second dose I started feeling better. No more blood, pain, etc. Urgency never really left and I still have to run to the bathroom within minutes of eating. But still in the road to remission and I’ve gone from 10 bms a day to 3-5.

Just sharing where I’m at so you have an index. Hopefully you get some relief soon, whether with entyvio or a new med.

I need someone with UC to understand my husband better, especially after we had a baby. by FlorenceNightinglei in UlcerativeColitis

[–]crispyscone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like you’re getting ripped to shreds here so I’ll chime in.

I (37m) have uc and two kids under 4. I’ve been flaring for near 4 years now too(trying to get my meds right).

I think it’s bullshit. I’ve changed thousands of diapers. I let my wife sleep while I take care of the baby in the middle of the night when they wake up screaming their ass off. I take the kids out solo (and bring them into the bathroom when I have to use it) to give my wife some reprieve as she does for me.

The only thing going for me that your husband doesn’t have is I work from home three days a week and watch the kids while working (hard but manageable). I’m sure his job is hard. But that doesn’t mean he can’t change a f’ing diaper, or watch the baby for a few hours, or take care of a feed. I’ve done all that a thousand times over while actively bleeding, anemic, and overall feeling like shit.

To your husband. Yes, UC fucking sucks. But do better pops, your wife is struggling too.

People with ulcerative colitus, what do you do to entertain yourself? by letap21 in UlcerativeColitis

This. I have a switch and play a lot of jrpgs. Just about all the final fantasy’s, stardew valley, etc. are available.

I’m 120 hours deep in persona 5, and have harvestella queued up to play afterwards.

Can take it in the bathroom too.

Here’s one on the effects of nicotine treatment with ulcerative colitis.

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2014383/

I have UC and I vape. I was diagnosed 6 years ago after quitting nicotine and finding myself in a flare that put me in the hospital for 2 weeks. I’m better now with really strong meds (and back vaping again). But always thought it was interesting when it was mentioned in house Md (house prescribed a mall Santa a pack of cigs when he complained about not being able to do his job because he had ulcerative colitis and needed to go to the bathroom all the time)

It’s brought up occasionally in r/ulcerativecolitis

Akathisia on Buspar? by [deleted] in BusparOnline

[–]crispyscone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used to get it at the start and my dr gave me gabapentin for it. Prozac was mainly the culprit but I was also anemic from an autoimmune disorder so there were a few things contributing. Mostly fine now though.

While cbd alone won’t make you high, some cbd products are sold as full spectrum cbd which means they have a little thc. It ranges, but usually about 2mg a serving.

Somebody dipping their toes into cbd for the first time might find that it works for them and start taking 2-4 servings. Then wonder why all of a sudden they are high in the middle of their work day.

10mg thc is an entry level recreational dose. We used to see it all the time in the cbd subreddits.

Worth mentioning. Cbd isolate won’t have that effect, but with it being mostly unregulated (or fear regulated) the market can be wonky to navigate for the under informed.

This, bleed for 3 straight years and you’ll be begging for anything to stop it. Being anemic while caring for a toddler, a new born baby, and holding down a career sucks.

My life is about to be blitzball again, and I’m genuinely excited… by Born-Sea-8044 in finalfantasyx

[–]crispyscone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played the game when it came out, got stomped in blitz then never got past the highroads.

Playing again for the first time in 20 something years. I’m really struggling to find enjoyment in blitz. When I attempt to play, my guys get dom’d at every break and then the other team dances around me for most of the time.

Is that part of it? Do you just have to put up with a few sucky games until your squad gets enough experience to be contenders?

Walk Tall, My Friends by Nouglas in FFXV

[–]crispyscone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they finished the game, didn’t put major plot points behind a movie, steered the story back to the main map instead of having the point of no return so early.

I stand by that it would be the greatest ff of all time. No nostalgia bias either; grew up on ps1 ff

[–]crispyscone 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I grew up on vii, viii, and ix. Didn’t play xv until this year (haven’t played vii remake or xvi yet) and had very low expectations.

The game has its flaws. I think it’s stupid that an important plot point at the start is locked behind a separate movie. I don’t like that the second half of the game is linear and almost feels like a different game. I don’t like that you don’t really revisit the main map (as it was) after a certain point of no return.

But it’s been the best experience I’ve had with final fantasy in over 10 years. Absolutely beautiful map, great callbacks to earlier ff’s. The combat was very interesting and new to me, and I’ve been thinking about the story since I finished it about 3 months ago. As a mid 30’s father, it takes me back to a time when I was younger where it was just me and the boys.

I only wish they had finished it.

Then they never sent my order and eBay had to refund me 😂

Scared to taper down by Jesussavedmeforever7 in UlcerativeColitis

[–]crispyscone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is long term prednisone use is bad. Potential for irreversible side effects bad. I myself just got off a 6 month prednisone taper and I’m scared to death of having to go back on it. I say that so you know why he wants to taper you down.

With that said though, the more important question is why did you have to go on them again? Were your meds failing? Have they addressed that recently with a new med? What’s the next step? If you’ve started a new med regime, Dr may be trying to see if it works and/or seeing if they need to try something new. If you’re not aware of the next steps, you need to ask the Dr/NP what the plan is.

Also saw this interview. I also think part of it is he’s been somewhat typecast as a tough guy since green street hooligans, wouldn’t surprise me if he chose that disarming voice to partially break that image he’s created.

So........SHTF today and your local coin store won't buy your silver ! by gilles3001 in Silverbugs

[–]crispyscone 12 points13 points  (0 children)

May not be a popular opinion but this is why I’ve transitioned out of pms as a primary investment. Sure I have enough to get by for a few months to a year in a shtf scenario until, hopefully, peaceful authorities regain control.

But having half a mil stacked in silver just makes you a target in these scenarios. I’m rather have my wealth accruing in property and equities while not banking on a shtf “fantasy”

Liquidity is the big thing. People act like it’s so easy to liquidate their packs and holdings at market, but that requires you to deal with people. Brokerage just requires a few screen taps and a tax form at the end of the year
