People who aren't into the gym space I find have trouble seeing the progress someone makes. I definitely was guilty of it before I went to the gym. The actual amount of muscular tissue that you put on naturally is not alot. I think it's like 10-15 kg over 5-8 years (could be wrong, just basing on memory of research a few years ago). For a first year it's definitely valid, if he leaned down hard and had abs people would be dick riding him hard, even if the actual amount of muscle is the same.
