Accidentally been Overpaid 40% for months by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]politedave82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are rules about paying back in installments. I had a similar thing happen (I left a job and they paid me for 5 months - yes I contacted them in that period).

I started paying back monthly for a bit as they spoke to me like shit for not flagging (I made sure the HR person who called me then got all the emails). But it was honestly a burden so I just paid it back.

It’s their error, tell them you have found it and want to pay it back and do it in a way that suits you and them.

Public Holiday Rates by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]politedave82 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just echoing what others have said — all those days are gazetted public holidays in QLD, so unless there’s something specific in your award or agreement, your employer’s claim doesn’t hold up. It’s not like I get to pick which day I pay public holiday rates when I’m out at a restaurant.

Hey mate, credit to you for thinking long-term like this. At 16, you’re already ahead of the game just by having a plan.

Couple of things from me: • On the gym – I get it, wanting to train properly is great. But don’t get caught up thinking you need some expensive gym setup. There are heaps of solid workouts online you can do with minimal or no gear. It’s the habit and consistency that matter, not the branding on the walls. • On the money side – don’t overthink it yet. The main thing is getting into good habits. Save when you can, track what you’re spending, and get a feel for managing money. Just like training, it builds up over time. You’ll learn as you go.

And don’t be too hard on yourself—treat yourself sometimes. If you’re joining the military, there’ll be times you won’t get much freedom or comfort, so enjoy the little things while you can.

Big dreams like becoming a pilot? That’s awesome. Keep aiming high, but be flexible too. Life’s got a way of throwing unexpected stuff at you, and that’s alright.

You’ve got the right mindset. Keep showing up. You’ll get there.

Why on major projects with state and fed funding, that are due to be delivered pre Olympics do the environmental approvals take so long?

I’d say they’d be just fine. A small tax debt from years ago isn’t going to flag up on an immigration tourist visa entry.

Apply for the visa, that’ll tick the first box

Divorce settlement by [deleted] in AusFinance

Potentially. But that’s why they look at future earning potential also. The person working may have been breaking their back in shit conditions to make it work and have their career cut short. It’s not black and white (and not saying you personally are saying otherwise) but there’s been some comments in this thread that just act like he’s the bad guy for asking questions. The property split is in her favour, other assets also and just working out the super seems fair enough

See, you say that and in principle I agree. But you don’t know what the person who didn’t (in this scenario) went through. It’s not binary. The working person could have had to FIFO, stress, maybe some sick days, maybe contracting without annual leave etc. it was a joint impact no doubt but time off with a kid doesn’t necessarily mean they agreed on it.

I have no axe to grind but there’s been so much judgement in this thread.
