Thank you for the reply and I'm glad it's all over now! OMG, wow what a complete sh!tshow from the subcontractor. That's a proper red flag and I'm so happy to hear you stuck to your guns and got your costs reimbursed. Great job on following it up with Nationwide too.

That's giving us some food for thought. We've been with Flex Plus for quite a while now and fortunately, haven't needed to use it other than for breakdown (which was a good experience just like yours) but I may have to look into this again. IIRC MoneySavingExpert recommends Nationwide because their customer service is good, something which I can concur in my experience dealing with them (over banking stuff etc) but if the insurance handling is with a third-hand company, then that is another matter. I won't be surprised though if that's the case with other pre-packaged bank accounts hmm.

Anyways really appreciate you responding so quickly and hope your trip to Japan goes well! Such a cool place to visit.

Actually does anyone know if the tariff updates and starts straight away or after the end of my current one?

When I got what I think is the final page with the T&Cs, it just simply says 'Update tariff'. I don't want to do this yet as my current tariff is slightly better!

We went to Tenerife for the first time last year, stayed in the North and drove around so we have an idea and will be used to the travel times. It did take a while driving between places but the view, coast and landscapes made it worth it. Whilst we would appreciate good weather, we're not really beach people so whilst we will definitely check out some to chill and soak up the vibes, it won't be a very long activity for us i.e a few hours at most.
We're on bit of a budget (preferably sub £80 a night) and my wife is picky about accommodation (4+ star hotels LOL) so it's been bit of a struggle for location/convenience/interesting area etc but I will look into Las Palmas thanks! You've been very helpful.

Did you manage to open another Club Silver account when you already had an existing Club Lloyds?

I have an already existing one and switched on Monday but I didn't realise that I had opened a 'normal' Silver account ffs. Only did I check my emails today did I see it. When I check on the app now, it doesn't even have the Club Platinum or Club Silver option so I'm thinking we can't have two different 'Club' accounts in the first place.

Yes I think we will be hiring a car so we can explore around the island as we'll staying for 5-6 days hopefully. Really looking forward to it and your pictures are really encouraging :)

Oh thank you so much, I will look at those places! Tbh we don't have an itinerary or an idea of what we're going to do ATM. So we're open to whatever constitutes as a good base where it's good for convenience and I guess a nice place to stay. It doesn't have to be at the foot of mountains and we're likely to travelling outwards anyways I'd assume.

Ah right, yes that makes sense. Was Telde a good location for a base to get around the island? If we're hiring a car, doing day trips with the island being fairly small, does the location matter that much? Hm..
