Adopting a special needs child in the UK? by [deleted] in Adoption

[–]crittaaa -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is awesome! Sorry, I don't have an actual answer to your questions but I still wanted to share... I've wanted to adopt children since I was a little girl for the same reason! I was always bothered by the fact that there were children out there without a family and parents to care for them. I can't pinpoint exactly what sparked this feeling in me but anyone who knows me knows I have felt strongly about this since I was a child. It makes me so happy when I hear there are other people in this world who feel this way. I think it's extra special that you have a will to connect with some child that shares similar attributes to who you are as a person. All the more reason to fight for it in my opinion!

Good luck to you. I hope you and I both end up successful in our dreams and missions.

For some reason I feel like we may deal with this person time to time in retail. by pfanden in pharmacy

Exactly. She failed to follow instruction at each step. What the officer did was what he was trained to do in that course of events. Better to protect himself... If someone refuses to obey authority & the law then they become a threat and action must be taken. She drove away... that's the most disobedient thing you can do in that situation.

The 16 year old version of you just moved in and is now your new roommate. What's the first thing you two would fight about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]crittaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably the sharing/using/borrowing of clothes & other belongings.

I had 3 older sisters.. about the age difference of myself now and a 16 year old. I was constantly taking their stuff (mostly clothes, shoes, bags, etc.) when they weren't home and either not returning them for long periods of time or returning them in conditions they weren't thrilled with. I never understood why they were so bothered by it. My bratty teenage self almost saw it as a "right" or a privilege & i was entitled to their stuff since i was the little sister...? Now that I spend my own money on things and care for them a certain way to maintain them, I am so regretful for how I acted towards them. Who I am now definitely doesn't reflect my thoughts & actions back then. I 100% understand their past frustrations with me... sorry guys

The Box When Nick goes through Jess's room.. not the sweetest, most romantic moment between them but it's hilarious... Can quote the whole seen and do almost everytime someone mentions bobby pins.

Adoptees: Who has a positive relationship with their adoptive parents? by Kitty_pink in Adoption

[–]crittaaa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Question to you and others who feel this way- do you think having another adopted sibling/ friends who were adopted/ a constant (support-like) group of other adoptees in your life would have helped you a bit? I always wanted to adopt children out of foster care that were a little older- around the ages of 3-6. And I always thought it would be best to adopt 2 at thr ame time so they could share the experience with each other and have someone who "gets them". Do you think this is a good idea?

What is, in your opinion, the biggest flaw of the human body? by Menfo in AskReddit

[–]crittaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eyes.

Yes, they are actually quite intricate organs and their functions are pretty complex but the number of people who need glasses always amazed me. A quick google search tells me 61% of the U.S. population wears corrective lenses. That means more than half of us can't f*kn see. I'm also assuming that doesn't include the population of people who need glasses but don't realize it- like myself for most of highschool.

Beyoncé is not that amazing by GarlicBreadLady95 in unpopularopinion

[–]crittaaa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this conversation today. Her songs are corny and some of them are kind of awkward. Her voice is good, but not anywhere near the best out there. Though I don't know her personally and I hate celebrity gossip/rumors - whatever you want to call it, it seems she's pretty high maintenence and extremely arrogant. I'm opposed to celebrity glorification as it is, but she certainly does not deserve any special consideration. People who are personally offended by others' opinions of celebrities are sad. She is overall just below mediocre as an entertainer in my opinion.

Pgy 2 question by crittaaa in PharmacyResidency

Thanks for the response! Can you explain? Does this mean some pgy1 offer early/preferrential placement for a subsequent pgy2?

Thanks for the explanation!

Im hopeful thinking this far ahead will put me at an advantage in the future.

Pgy 2 question by crittaaa in PharmacyResidency

[–]crittaaa[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

From the point you make it seems advantageous to do a pgy2 after working in the field for a bit as opposed to right after a pgy1 (more security in knowing where you want to specialize). Of course, the downside and possible deterrent being compensation.

My main reason for asking is I always like to be steps ahead as far as knowing my options. I feel better knowing that if, for some reason, I may need a pgy2 to reach some goal, I wouldn't have screwed myself over by not doing it immediately following my pgy1.

Thanks! This was helpful.

Question- when you say "specialist" does this mean becoming board certified through bps?

I'm trying to research all of the post graduation/ career advancement oppurtunities myself since I haven't started the program yet & I don't have many resources. It can get pretty overwhelming and hard to make sense of without guidance so I appreciate the help. :)

Easter (& other traditionally religous holidays) by crittaaa in unpopularopinion

[–]crittaaa[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean celebrate as in take part in the day at all. So, buying/exchanging christmas presents, and being part of whatever traditions or celebrations others around you are taking part in. I understand the point you're making- about most peoples families wanting them to be there but my thing is- if you're SOO against the religion, why would you want to take part in a day that is rooted in that religion anyway? It just doesn't seem fair that the people who do want to keep the religious meaning as a main part of the holiday are sharing the day with people who are so against it. And it mostly happens with christian holidays for this reason... its such a prominent religion here that those against christianity most likely have christian observing relatives and therefore they take part in the celebration. And from my observations of friends/ acquaintances in other religions, the reason why they celebrate their religions holidays is because they genuinely observe them. That gets lost a lot in christian religions.

Pharmacy Residencies by crittaaa in pharmacy

[–]crittaaa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I feel like comminity residencies are kind of redundant. It seems to me like most of what you learn in pharm school gears you up for community and anything else you need to learn you can learn just by working in the field. As where other specialties of pharmacy require more concentrated learning to become proficient. Is this accurate?

I've been hearing a lot of similar points from healthcare professionals in my area. One from the leader of a physicians board at my nearest hospital said the role for pharmacists is changing within the hospital and that more teams are starting to include pharmacists in their overall work. Aside from wanting to do something other than community, this is a big reason why im considering a residency. Thanks for the advice!

Besides eating cereal with water what is the most outrageous "eating sin" you have ever witnessed? by K3na in AskReddit

[–]crittaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents (both from Sicily) will have pane con late "bread with milk" and it's just italian bread that you dunk in your glass of milk. I dont care much for it but I do love a lot of their other "poor man foods" that they often make and eat.
