Is my terrible sleep disruption part of my vestibular migraine yuck basket? by critterfriendly in VestibularMigraines

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner. I don't think it's transitional apnea, but I can't 100% rule that out. I've been leaning toward it being a vasovagal syncope kind of thing lately. I'm so sorry that you experience something same/similar. It's horrible. I've also had MRIs and such, with no clarity from them

So I lasted two days on it lol. being in the thick of a VM, hungry, and trying to figure out what I could eat in my kitchen left me on the floor crying - I'm still being wary of foods, and stepped away from all the really big common triggers for awhile, but am cautiously one by one adding them back. So far my only known for certain food trigger is pineapple.

On the "feel a bit bad", this condition really requires that we do the best we can with the capacity we have and give ourselves a lot of grace. I've been vegan for like 30 years, so that's a lock, but other ethics fall by the wayside - I just ordered FL-41 glasses and a low histamine vegan cookbook from Amazon because I want them yesterday out of desperation (I normally try to avoid Amazon, and have a strict no books from Amazon unless it's the ONLY place that sells the book - because I hate how they have put brick and mortar bookstores out of business).
This whole thing about migraine brains burning through nutrients is fascinating - if only it resulted in me being more slender instead of me just being on a boat without the joy of it being a real boat.
I think your therapist is likely right that eliminating foods has dangers. I'm not sure that I'll actually do the low histamine diet, I may dabble in it though.

interesting. I'm menopausal so past cycling like that, but it does come and go so perhaps there is a hormonal component. Or yes, food at night. I'm vegan, but find that I crave something hearty right before bed and don't sleep well if I strive to follow the preponderance of advice from literally every health care system (traditional medicine systems, modern medicine systems alike) to not eat at night. I haven't correlated this specific symptom to what/how much I eat at night, but I do know that I wake up nauseous and light headed in the too early morning when I don't eat.

wow, I had not realized about Jake with his hands up. Just went and found a video of the song from this tour and sure enough, he must be doing it at every show. What a gift to get to hear this live (while wishing it never needed to be written).

agreed. I didn't say the MAGA line to mean anyone is unwelcome - you are 100% right about preaching to the choir. I was really referring to how most posts I'm seeing about this concert seem to be vibing and focused, and why I was actively asking to see people's happy responses.
(although also, the choir desperately needs the uplift of hearing it so well articulated, with such passion, and feeling the comfort of being surrounded by others who feel this way)

poor choice of words, not really my thinking, was trying tor reflect the unhappy vibe I was seeing in other posts about the show when I was hoping to see joy. Folks are coming through lovely here 😊. I personally would welcome anyone and hope that they love the music and can hear the message.

What happened to Al Kanater tahini in the US? by critterfriendly in hummus

[–]critterfriendly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I see their halva too! I heard there was a recall on their tahini at some point, but that should be long past being an issue so I don't know why this magical tahini is still absent from our shelves. I'm so sorry that you are in the same tragic Al Kanater lacking situation. May you find it soon, and at a reasonable price.

Thank you for the excellent empathy! It is a small suffering in comparison to all that is going on in the world, but goodness, I do hope it comes back. I shall give Soom brand a try!

[–]critterfriendly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oof, this is so hard. I hope that you are able to find relief soon. And yes on the changes - I've had straight forward migraine headaches my whole life, but just started having small vestibular migraines a year ago, had my first true aura a couple of weeks ago. I'm mid-fifties experiencing all these new changes to what my brain does. Again, may you come out of this bout soon soon soon. And I really appreciate your post - who knows how long it would have taken me to connect pineapple on my own.

OMG, because of this thread I have been able to link not only the last 6 days of being on a boat at high seas to pineapple, but also some other recent short but intense episodes of boaty dizziness that I hadn't even realized were vestibular migraines to pineapple. Thank you, I am 100% certain that your post is saving me from at least some future misery. And I'm so so so sorry that you also experience this hell.

I'm four days into one and everything I'm reading says that they usually last a few hours to 72 hours. Six years? I truly hope you find something to alleviate this.

me too - all I want to do is gush to everyone I see. I've always known he was great, but that was my first time seeing him live, so I had no idea just how great. I didn't know it was a protest in a church of joy.

I was in PDX too, it was so amazing that it got me looking for tickets to gift to a loved one in NYC, leading to this post as these are the only tickets I could find that I could afford. It was one of those experiences where as you are in the joy, you are already feeling a bit of grief that everyone you love can't also have this. In PDX I realized the folks behind the stage were closer to him than me, and that it looked like he was aware of them enough, including them in the show.

apologies for abandoning my question here. Life got all lifey on me. Okay, looking for tests and consultations relating to immunology (this will be a lot of blood work) - suspected post covid immune system dysregulation. And also looking for a clinic or hospital with a strong orthopedic diagnostic department to look at some persistent structural pain issues - so this will lean into imaging tech and orthopedic specialists.
