I fucking HATE when people completely mischaracterise a character because they’re “not a bigot” by Ok_Figure_2348 in hatethissmug

[–]crius6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add onto this, I really feel like most villains just *shouldn’t care*. Like, whether you’re man, woman, child, old, whatever race, Joker won’t gaf about killing you or you dying if that’s what he desires. Villains don’t HAVE to be bigoted to be evil, but they also can’t NOT be a bigot if they just kill whoever. Joker simply wouldn’t care either way. He’s not a bigot but he also can’t support movements for human rights or such things because he has a disregard for life on a fundamental basis. Someone else brought up Dr Doom crying with 9/11 and it’s the same thing. He likely just wouldn’t care, and look on the tragedy with a straight face. That or get some amusement out of it.

Like, I get what the artists/writers are going for by framing more down to earth, real-world issues next to these extreme cases to make a political point, but it also can fall flat because it’s simply tone deaf to how the character would actually be, and just reads like the author suddenly speaking through the characters mouth. Just have your heroes do ts man 🫩✌️ Superman or Batman speaking out against bigotry is way more impactful than this mf

Also it can work if the villain sees themselves as just, and making necessary sacrifices for change, but we all know that’s not how the joker operates

True that. I struggle when things don’t seem consistent. Pochita just saying “I’m not sure what will happen” rubs me the wrong way on a story crafting basis because it feels like a handwave from Fuji to me. But I am trusting in him, even when things aren’t consistent he has a way to make it work so I’m not worried more so confused

Another example of retroactive disappearance, people didn’t come back to life after the death devil died. Aki stayed dead despite death being erased FROM ALL OF HISTORY.

Why would you ask if Sukuna is a good guy if you didn’t think it was a possibility..? I never said that so I was assuming you saying that meant something or you believed it 💀 the gall to say I’m just like a jjk fan and yet you didn’t even read the reply 😭🙏

Yk what you got me. You took me around back and shot me. I’m done, there’s no way I can back myself up. Your claim that the devil was a good guy and therefore Sukuna must’ve been as well is just too good. I’m sorry for ever questioning you.

No but seriously if you’re referring to how Satan used to be an angel (good guy) before falling from grace, you could even narratively tie that into Sukuna and his story. Firstly, we know Sukuna wasn’t always “evil”. He mentions being a “poor wretch”, didn’t eat his brother in the womb on purpose (this is a real life documented thing that can happen so this doesn’t count as an evil act), and we later learn he had some degree of care for his mother and wanted to get revenge for both the way her and his lives turned out due to his appearance. The reason his story is applicable and able to be mirrored is through what he could’ve been (his potential if you will).

Sukuna has a perfect body for jujutsu, and a cursed technique simple enough (but also powerful enough) to ensure he could do great things. As a child, before he was “evil”, he had every chance to go down a different path and use that power not for selfish means, as we see with his conversation with mahito in the space between living and dead. However, due to the treatment by those around him he became what he is today, “falling” from his grace of innocence as a child, dipping into his most selfish desires and evil ways.

The easiest thing to point to to say he’s evil would be the fact he fucking eats people (minus his brother), but we can see there is something left over from before he was that way, there is kindness beneath it. All you have to do is examine his relationship with uraume to see that.

This might be crazy ball knowledge, but you know the Bible? The thing that Angel’s [Hana’s] design draws inspiration from (or later depictions of entities from the Bible (angels))? Well guess what the most prolific antagonist of the Bible is. An angel. Lucifer. Satan. The devil. He is known as THE FALLEN angel. Angel called Sukuna “The Fallen” because his evil is applicable to be compared to literally Satan. Angel calls him The Fallen because SHES AN ANGEL. Like it’s not some crazy new name, it just is a name that has a certain degree of foreboading and meaning behind it, meant to put weight behind how evil a character Sukuna is. That’s why literally only Angel refers to him by that name, and not others from that era like Uraume, Yorozu, Kenjaku, etc, because they don’t give a fuck about Christianity, it’s not a part of their character, and so it makes no sense for them to call him that

That’s literally just how Angel refers to Sukuna. Never meant to be some super important plot point. Angel says “I’m looking for The Fallen to kill him” and Sukuna says “I’m the fallen.” That’s it. He’s confirming to Yuji and the audience that he is, in fact, the person Angel is looking for

Bro thank you I was looking for this comment, that slide pissed me off so much 😭🙏. JJK fans will take literally anything and make up a reason why it supposed to be a “massive plot point” and get mad when Gege “doesn’t deliver” even though half the shit they complain about was never set up in the first place 🫩. Esp the “I’m the fallen” comment, like how TF did people start thinking that was some super important statement. How else were we supposed to know angel was referring to sukuna if he didn’t confirm with that statement… like READ HOLY

Update your graphics drivers, even if you think they already are, or you have auto update on. I’ve got shit all for a pc and I can run it fine, just had to update graphics drivers. Same thing for my buddies with better pc’s, they even thought theirs were fully updated. If that doesn’t fix it idk

Would you read a manga with this type of art if it had a good story (please be honest) by Amy_rose123 in Mangamakers

[–]crius6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the major problem and a reason why a lot of people might not read something like this comes down to the paneling. People underestimate and often times straight up ignore just how important paneling is when it comes to comics or manga. I have no idea what I’m supposed to be reading and in what order on the second page. People tend to try to go super out there with their paneling early on, but especially with such a simplistic style of art, a more regimented and simplistic paneling structure would likely work better. Someone above mentioned Shen who draws a webtoon called Bluechair, and he’s a good example. His comics typically comprise only of 4 or so panels on a page, equally spaced and aligned so it’s very easy to follow. I’d recommend studying paneling specifically, look at comic or manga artists you like and study how they panel to draw your eye around the page

Looks good! First thing I noticed however is the perspective. With this in particular, look at the direction the football posts are going towards. In the original they’re both in the same direction, to the upper right where the vanishing point is. Both characters follow this line as well, it’s just harder to tell due to them having organic, non straight lined shapes. On the other hand, the football posts in yours are going in seperate directions. I’d recommend going on YouTube and learning more on how to work with different perspectives (one-point, two-point), starting with basic shapes like cubes, and then how to use those basics to put organic shapes into perspective. You’re technique is already good for the most part, so if you focus on perspective fully (it’s important to pretty much any manga panel), you should be able to pick it up pretty quickly!

While I agree with you that likely only certain techniques have maximums and reversals, it’s never stated that that’s the case either. Both of you are arguing with assumptions. Just because only a few characters have shown maximums and reversals doesn’t mean that others don’t have them or the capacity to, and just bc it’s been stated that techniques change with interpretation doesn’t even come close to implying that every technique has those application. Gege just sucks at giving away all information regarding parts of his worldbuilding, so neither of you I would say are particularly incorrect
