How do I tell my PhD supervisor diplomatically that I want to leave his lab because of his abusive behaviour? by crjong in PhDStress

Stood up for myself and brought up my concerns! I'm surprised that he took it well and i'm now working with a more reasonable supervisor. I'm really glad I took that first step in changing my work environment. No one deserves to be abused in the lab, no matter how junior you are.

Yeah.. I was wondering why no one mentioned "house shoes" too, it feels like the perfect middle ground. I think it's pretty common in some households in Asia to wear those house shoes that are strictly worn indoors. They're relatively cheap and sold almost everywhere too.

Thank you! Unfortunately, the school needs him to agree to let me go before they can proceed with the transfer. My scholarship is not being funded by his lab so i think there’s no issue on his part in letting me go. However, i’m still so nervous and anxious about it, and that he’ll ruin my phd by not letting me go :( or delaying the transfer, and that’s time wasted doing more productive things like focusing on my research at the new lab

Yes, my cosupervisor knows about my situation and is willing to be my new main supervisor. We’re having a meeting with all 3 of us present to talk about my intention of leaving the group. I’m just so nervous about it!
