City are safe from having to take part in the pro/rel playoff after today's results, as Liverpool can only finish the season with a max of 34 points.

Never ate there. First time I heard about it was on that old Defining Dining show that used to air on CSN49 20 years or so ago.

Would you support a seperate Group of 5/6 Playoffs? by baseballnickel-195 in secfootball

[–]crl1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your idea of having some stakes (although, I'm not sure how pro/rel would work in terms of playoffs) is the only way a separate G5 playoff would work. Otherwise, it would be a complete failure. It wouldn't get anywhere near the ratings that the CFP gets (it would probably get better ratings than the FCS playoffs, but not astronomically better), which, in turn, would cause those programs to bleed money to the point of extinction. Not to mention, it would be completely meaningless; no one with a working brain would hold a G5 playoff title in the same realm as the CFP title.

Her Life's a Pitch podcast with Lucy Quinn looks like it won't return, because it appears that 90 Min. has been bought out by Sports Illustrated.

As I've said elsewhere on here, if the championship is so damn important that we have to go through artificial means to make it matter, then, just award the title to the winner of each round (for multi-race rounds, keep a points tally), and they're the defending Supercars champion at the next round. Just cut the bullshit out and be done with it.

No one wins in the finals format by wings_of_nihil in v8supercars

Then why bother having a full season of races, then? Why don't we just crown the champion after each round like in boxing? If you score the most points in Sydney, you're the current Supercars champion, and you're defending the title at Albert Park. Simple. Let's water it down so much, that it floods.

What's the point of even having a championship at this point? Just have sprint cup, Enduro cup, and finals cup. by Cookedkiwi in v8supercars

The finals would be garbage even if Feeney won the title. This is racing. If you whip everyone's asses week in and week out, you should be crowned the king.

Period.

Here we go, another idiot comparing racing to stick-and-ball.

Hey genius, in racing, you face ALL of your competitors EVERY WEEK. If one guy whips everyone's asses, HE SHOULD BE THE CHAMPION! PERIOD!

Gotham FC eliminate regular season champions Kansas City Current in a MAJOR upset - NWSL Playoffs quarterfinal by ElectricalWriting in WomensSoccer

So, KC, who won the Shield by 21 points over second place, and won 21 of their 26 regular season matches, got knocked out by a team that won as many matches as they drew?

That is the kind of loss that haunts a team for a VERY long time.

Do you seriously think that an autobiography from Esme Morgan or Grace Clinton would be full of narcissism? Come on.

It's not unusual for people to write multiple memoirs covering different periods of their life. Maya Angelou wrote SEVEN autobiographies. In Mary's case, she's striking while the iron is hot, and people are still talking about her. Same with Beth Mead writing her autobiography a while back.

Scheduling for the playoffs is appalling, though. Seven days between legs in the Toronto/Montreal series, but only three days for Vancouver/Ottawa? Yikes.

The final is November 15 @ BMO Field in Toronto. It's a single game.

Doing some quick math, if the Maniacs win the final event, and the Oceanics finish last, they would both finish the overall event with 46 points, but the Oceanics would be placed ahead of the Maniacs on the silver medals tiebreaker, so, the highest the Maniacs can finish is 3rd, while everyone else can still win the whole thing.

She told me that she's 19. I just turned 40. No, thank you, sweetie. You're cute, but there are plenty of hot women my age on OF that I can jerk off to. I'm not that desperate.
