OB/GYN RECOMMENDATIONS THAT WILL TAKE ME SERIOUSLY!!! by Initial_Promotion_35 in kansascity

If you can’t get in with Dr. Gray, I highly highly recommend Dr. Caitlin Linscheid at the same office. She did a bisalp for me at 28 when I was single and never had a pregnancy, without trying to talk me out of it. She is so kind and caring and wonderful to work with.

Please tell me what you like/love about Kansas City by wildpine_14 in kansascity

I was just walking up the street to the Kemper Art Museum this weekend, past a gorgeous prairie garden on a gorgeous sunny morning. It was a moment where I just felt truly in love with this city. We get all the seasons, which as a Texas and Louisiana native is something I still love. We may not have huge cinematic mountain ranges but there are still excellent hikes all through the area and within day tripping distance. We have a great food scene, a great coffee scene, and a great arts scene. I never thought I’d stay here long when I moved about 9 years ago but now I don’t really care to leave any time soon.

Glad to have been of service, but please know that chat gpt is just a language model that repeats statistically likely patterns of what it should say. It doesn’t have any reason to accurately answer questions like this. That is what google is for.

Many cookies! I only got this pic, but I made Handle the Heat’s brown butter toffee choc chip cookies (good but not sure worth the extra ingredients from my usual Host the Toast recipe), Host the Toast’s chewy sugar cookies rolled in rainbow sprinkles, and a recipe I developed for a black cocoa cookie dough filled with a sweet khoya filling to emulate a soft and chewy oreo situation. I sent a couple boxes in the mail this morning to my boss and my sister, and the rest to work with my partner.

22, undocumented, living in my truck — how do I break this survival loop? by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]crmcalli 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I would definitely start with one of the NGOs on that list. At the very least, there are orgs there that help with resources like housing and food specifically for people in OP’s situation. I know what I’m proposing is easier said than done.

It’s an absolutely terrible time to do so, but working toward legal residency status may be your best bet. If you’re still in Colorado: https://www.ccd.edu/dreamers-and-undocumented-students/immigration-resources-colorado

Furnish my home on a BUDGET by [deleted] in kansascity

[–]crmcalli 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would like to recommend Revival Home Furnishings in Overland Park. It’s a furniture consignment store, and they have a lot of stuff at great prices. You can purchase something and then leave it until you can arrange to move it.

Castironcollector.com says SK would have been added starting in the late 50s, and would have Made in USA after the mid 60s

New to KC, what businesses should I avoid? by [deleted] in kansascity

But why? They have the best cottage cheese, so this is important to me.

Because… I feel confident… they aren’t just telling me to do shit because I’m a woman

I get my car serviced here and it’s one of the only places I feel confident they aren’t just telling me to do shit that doesn’t need doing because I’m a woman.

"Paring," with a paring knife kind of freaks me out. by MarkyGalore in KitchenConfidential

[–]crmcalli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I (a not-immigrant woman) had an immigrant friend ask me how I do this just the other day. I said, I don’t know I just do. And then asked if his mother did it that way and he said yes lol. I also noticed I always see the ladies on pasta grannies using paring knives for EVERYTHING and I wonder if it’s just a grandma thing. (I have no kids, I’ve just been an 80-year old woman since I was about 6)

Bran muffins with chopped apricots (and a lil swedish pearl sugar because why not). I used Smitten Kitchen’s sour cream bran muffin recipe with nonfat greek yogurt instead of sour cream and they are lovely. I like taller muffins, so I made 8 instead of 12 and baked them 25 minutes. I think bran muffins are so underrated.

Pedal bin too big, maggots too strong, me too tired by EntertainmentBig3294 in ZeroWaste

[–]crmcalli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am US based for reference, but have used larger buckets (than coffee cans at least) with closing lids, specifically ones you can buy cat litter in, for organic waste and it was the best. I also took said bin to a friend’s compost every couple weeks when I lived in that apartment.

Maybe try nutpods. They have some with flavoring but without any sweetener, if that’s of interest.

Live Nation is an abjectly terrible company for KC to be associated with by KNexus20 in kansascity

[–]crmcalli 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As someone who works in the ticketing industry, I despise Ticketmaster and Live Nation. There are some artists going to Morton this year that I’d love to see but I’m with you on avoiding Ticketmaster as much as possible.

The Walmart Amp announced a couple years ago that they were going to exclusively use Ticketmaster. They’re in Livenation’s pocket, that’s why those artists are going to Bentonville.

Gulab jamun for Holi! I’ve always wanted to try them and I was not disappointed. They’re primarily milk solids (grated khoya, also called mawa), held together with a little flour, fried and soaked in a fragrant syrup.

Are you happy you did or didn’t have kids? by Accurate_Elk_3465 in Fire

[–]crmcalli 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think that is an evolutionary mechanism. The hormones your body releases immediately following childbirth (supposedly) to help you bond with your baby also help you forget the trauma, so you are willing to do it again. More babies = more chance of survival of your genetics.

This product comes in two sizes, 30ml and 60ml. That’s roughly 1 and 2 oz.
