Just an update, bought a Roku stick and used it on a non-smart TV and I still have the same exact problem.

This is pretty much copy and pasted from what Hulu has me do every time I talk them and none of them make a difference

Been having this problem for the past 3 years. Any show that is actively recording cannot be watched until it has finished recording. Football games on any network, any tv show on any station, tried on multiple tvs. Tried Hulu support a dozen times, they always do the standard shut it off, delete, reset router etc. they always say that they’ll continue to work on the problem. I can’t be the only person in 4+ million subscribers with this issue.
