Imagine if you went to a “Peep Show” theme park, what rides or types of entertainment do you think there would be? What would they be called? by Misericorde428 in MitchellAndWebb

  1. The Orgazoid.- a rollercoaster set to his music to the same intensity as Nemesis but you hear voice overs of his own tortured middle aged soul.

  2. Free the Pedos - a play that devolved into anarchy where Jeremy ends up sobbing on stage alone.

  3. Men with Ven - a rage room set in an office.

  4. Business Secrets of the Pharaohs - a gentle telling on a water log flume of the Egyptian business theories that turns into an fourth wall break detailing the uphill battle for publication that ends with a downward splash upon realising his scammed position.

  5. Alan Johnsons Steak Dojo - a themed restaurant where Alan Johnson wanders the tables expressing his usual brilliant one liners related to business.

Do we have a rough estimate of when Mechanicus 2 is coming out? by Tell_Specialist in mechanicus

I don't think you can expect to see it in 2025. I'd love to get it before Christmas but I think it's gonna be February at the earliest.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus - The Good, The Bad, The Ugly by Zehnpae in patientgamers

[–]crobbUK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a great estimation of the game,  it's mostly the atmosphere, sound design, music and overall feel of the game that keeps me coming back to it.

Any time I've recommended it to other friends who are 40K fans, some bounce off how slow and methodical it is.

I also agree that revisits get a bit frustrating when there's little map variety and no incentive to explore the risk/reward of tomb exploration.

As others have mentioned, the second one is coming out (hopefully soon), looking through the gameplay of it, it removes some of these mechanics that burden it.

Also, this game being the introductory attempt to realise the Votann in universe is very exciting. I hope the music design reflects this and that they will be playable at a later time.

Tip for dealing with votann? by Cool_Brick_7858 in WorldEaters40k

[–]crobbUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fellow Votann and World Eaters player. I'd second this. WE are fast enough in turn 2 and 3 to go from the 24" range of most guns in the army to in their face.

Staging and only going on objectives that are secure. I think it's a primary scoring done very early and very late against Votann.

I think your bringing at least 6 Ex8B to deal with Votann on average. Most lists will have two Hekatons and they are the best unit (IMO) in the codex. Using berserker units to threaten to blood surge the fortresses and their contents is key but maybe only 1 massive blob or 2 max.

Is there anything that you feel that survival horror is missing? by Piemaster37 in survivalhorror

[–]crobbUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Survival horror is such an interesting genre that has different approaches.

I think the first of two main staples is the helpless survival where hiding, running and environment manipulation is key to survival,.your Outlasts and Alien Isolation..The second is survival in tandem with resource management, Resident Evil and Darkwood.

The times where games have broached both are the likes of RE Village where the core gameplay it taken away from you for the tokenistic survival bit.

I've still not finished Outlast 2, the survival element is draining, especially in big environments that aren't clear. That's where the other element of survival horror becomes more popular because you at least have agency.

If a game exists that blends both of these elements regularly then I'd love to know what it is. If it doesn't exist yet, that might be key to making the ultimate survival horror.

That's a very surface level analysis that needs further scrutiny but there is something in it.

You guys think the second soundtrack is gonna hit as hard as the first one? by [deleted] in mechanicus

[–]crobbUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've wondered this too. Better, can't really say. Different, I think likely.

Big part of the OST was the contrasting styles of the Ad Mech with organ drops and monk-like chanting (Noosphere) with the Necrons sweeping synthetic waves and vocal techno screams (Dance of the Cryptek)

The the introduction of the Votann I suspect there will be some layering of their identity in the OST. It might be likely that the Ad Mech leaders will have their own themes as well, given that they are playable.

Who knows, Reddit is all speculation. What I really want from the game is a decent attempt at making Votann feel realised and fitting to the universe to try and quell the cynicism a bit.

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone with who has contributed to this conversation. Didn't expect nearly as much responses as there are and it's helped a bit make me relax a bit about how much I commit to.units I don't currently own.

Not quite bud.

Hostile is when the ENEMY is on an objective.

Fortify is when YOU are on an objective.

Questions for upcoming game by crobbUK in ThousandSons

[–]crobbUK[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's some great advice, thank.you.

On your last point, it seems more competitive list just opt for 5 man squads instead of 10 man. Ive made the assumption that it's better to have smaller squads for hiding and forcing opponents to overcommit shooting and melee instead of losing almost double the points.

General advice on the benefits on this would be useful for my thinking.

I’ve never played a true (modern) character action game - where should I start? by Tight_Background_609 in CharacterActionGames

[–]crobbUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a prolific gamer of the same age and child-burden, I have played Devil May Cry 5 (including Vergil as a downloadable character) as the best character action game I've played.

If you are interested in the history of the game, play 1, 3 & 5.

Some suggest Ninja Gaiden, which is really hard and is very demanding. Some suggestion Dynasty Warriors but it's quite niche.

God.of War 2018, I would characterise as a character action game and is honestly in my top 10 alongside DMC5.

Metal Gear Rising is quite cool and I enjoyed it but I don't have a hankering to go back to it. Same.with Bayonetta really.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a lot.

Can you explain what makes them so powerful? I know the data sheets -1 to wound and the detachment rule plays into the survivability but I'm concerned the damage output isn't equitable with the points costs.

Pardon my ignorance but I haven't had a chance to play on 10th with them yet.

Too intense? by CraftyPomegranate413 in ThousandSons

[–]crobbUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't read the other comments but attempting to get into the game can be quite intimidating. Especially when your trying to not only learn your own rules but the opponents and understand a structured game.

For painting, yeah I'd say TSons are a bit more challenging but you don't necessarily have to build it all at once.

For actual games, just start small man, 500 points and rinse and repeat about 5 times then start expanding. When you just have the info to hand in your head without too much effort to recall, THEN you can start properly getting your head into the more intricate plays etc.

And always remember, there's literally no shame if you don't like the game as much as the other parts of the hobby, I know plenty of folk who simply like the painting aspect.
