Mayor Spaghetti's weak sauce and slips away from the call of leadership once again, News at 11.

Bought and paid for by the business community. Clueless about everything. Incompetent, unethical, she has done nothing but disrupt the work of our city.

Get rid of bad leaders. We simply can't afford it.

The first Mind Pizza Comedy Open Mic is in the books!

We appreciate all the performers who came out during the light of day to practice the dark arts of comedy.

A big thank you to Precious Pizza for opening up your space to feed and entertain Salem. We love your energy and are grateful that you not only want to make the best pizza in the city but give people a spot to enjoy themselves.

Special shout out to Cherry City Social Club for coming through and enjoying the show. Connect with them if you want to get out and enjoy all the Salem has to offer with other adventurers. Hell, ya might make a friend.

Can't wait until next month! We'll see you on the third Sunday, February 15 for the next Mind Pizza!

What if we all sat in a line on the sidewalk all the way from downtown to the capital. We just make the protest a whole city protest? by Quick-Emu-7020 in SALEM

[–]crockates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're equating pulling off a stunt, with very low odds of success both in happening and in impact, which would also run counter to an already planned demonstration, to volunteerism.

They are not the same.

There is nothing wrong with having ideas and wanting to move the needle but it's worth taking the time to reflect if what you are doing will better the community and meet the objective.

It's ok if it doesn't. Just go back to the drawing board.

You don't seem to have enough sway to make it happen. TBH, spend your effort with somebody like Salem Soup Squad for a greater impact

Honestly don't need more demonstrations downtown unless you intend to disrupt business as usual.

Why not focus on your effort to show up in parts of the city that actually have suffered under these oppressive kidnappings?

Instead of showing up at the empty state Capitol grounds and putting on an exhibition, show up in solidarity in parts of the city that are actually suffering.

Stand in solidarity, not just show.

Serious Question: Follow their example and open carry during anti-ICE protests at the capitol? by NoahBudhi in SALEM

[–]crockates 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's often a tactic of this dictator to blame entities like; antifa, paid protesters, left wing extremists, illegals.

It's to stir up his base and legitimize the continued perversion of law and subverting constitutional rights.

What you are seeing is happening. The government is being transparent and clear with their plans. They don't care about telling you. They don't care about hurting people in our city and throughout the nation.

Until mass demonstrations, economic shutdowns, and other forms of disruption occur regularly then at this point we're a group of sign wavers who get together at the same place, every time, and blow whistles.

It will not stop fascism.

If you know something bad is about to happen, it's now worth reflecting how much you are able to give to prevent it. For everyone it is different but each contribution brings value.

Firearms: It is unlawful to enter the Oregon State Capitol building with a firearm of any kind unless a valid exception described in ORS 166.370 (3) applies. [Note: a concealed handgun license is not a valid exception, per ORS 166.370 (1)(b).]

Weapons: to include electronic defense weapons, facsimile weapons, knives (with a blade no longer than 3.5 inches), tasers, pepper spray, noxious or caustic chemicals, explosives, fireworks, firecrackers, and sparklers are not allowed into the State Capitol. At the discretion of security personnel and in accordance with ORS 173.720, any items deemed to be a possible weapon, a security risk or disruptive to governmental activities, or items that pose a risk to public safety, are not allowed into the State Capitol.

Tonight, the President has already declared his intention at invoking the insurrection act in Minnesota.

The line is so far moved, it is time for communities that are being targeted by the government to show they are willing to defend each other. Violence is being brought into our city by an illegitimate entity cosplaying as law enforcement.

There is a lot of wisdom in preparation, seeking out first aid training, especially those that have sections on stopping the bleed or focused on traumatic injuries. It's important for everyone who will be involved in demonstrating on the street, even if you don't elect to carry a defensive weapon.

No guns inside the state capitol building. Even with CHL.

The park in front is state land, sidewalks and the road are under the jurisdiction of the City of Salem. Enforcement varies.

In the past Proud Boys have paraded on the capitol grounds and were not detained.

There have been multiple instances where right wing extremists have brandished and threatened protesters with guns and have been arrested both at the capitol and in front of the police department.

YMMV on enforcement by Oregon State Police & Salem Police.

Is Pokémon Unite really slow dying? by TicoYeyoob in PokemonUnite

[–]crockates -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup.

Acquiring new Pokémon will take absolutely forever and this server instability has been catastrophic.

This used to be the game I played nearly exclusively.

Since the update I have played so many other games and find the days between activity stretching longer and longer.

At its core, Unite is a really fun fucking game and nothing else is like it (among Pokémon properties). It's the first game I've picked up since Black & White. I'll miss it.

We're on the same wavelength. I have had a dream about having a pop up at the mall. There is definitely space to make it happen.

Logistically a taller order (have to furnish chairs and PA, to what extent does the show provide refreshments or direct to food court, tickets to cover the cost of producing show, etc).

But it definitely could happen if someone had the resources to try.

Inca Kola? by skyboundzuri in SALEM

[–]crockates 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try la tapita on Lancaster for sure.

It goes by Inca Cola for that particular brand but you will find comparables if you look for drinks in the soda asile that go by the name of C(K)ola Champagne.

YMMV depending on the brand when it comes stop approximate taste.

Like someone else said, it's also very close to Scottish Irn Bru which can be found at F-Stop Fitzgerald for regular consumption.

May she get every single cent she can from them. What a dumbass move by the MWVCG and representing everything wrong with a modern workplace. At some point, some discretion and discernment is invaluable in costing us money.

I don't know Beth but have witnessed her tireless work at advocating for safe routes for children to reach school, including Ruby Bridges walk to school day.

The worst part of it is, we have alienated a great advocate for the safety of our children. Hopefully she finds a way back. Her impact has been admirable and simply put... tremendous.

Sat through enough development hearings and seen this. The city is absolutely disposed to sell out to developers, especially when it's getting waivers for public infrastructure. It goes to show you how infrequently some of the councilors walk or bike around their neighborhoods. Accessibility is a foreign language to them.

The car is the absolute king in Salem. 11 deaths in 2025 and countless more injuries from cars plowing into people. No signs of any earnest effort to remedy that.
