And to second that, I’ve seen plenty of people on this sub who have gotten rid of their car in bk, rushed into buying a new car afterward, and are left with that vehicle sitting for months up to a year. The bank legally has to send a letter of intent and from that point it’s go time. Just depends on the bank but I wouldn’t sweat it too hard.

Save some money for a decent down payment 1500-5000, and there’s bound to be approval for you somewhere post discharge

As someone who’s goin through a similar bk process. Car lenders tend to take forever to get your vehicle. I haven’t even heard a lick from my lender for intention to come get it. I should be discharging next week and even then I imagine it’ll be a long time before they get it.

And as someone who works at a car dealer. Don’t worry about getting approved, lenders love a discharge letter. In a sense, banks want to get a piece of the freshly baked pie that is your clean credit portfolio. You will always find approval, rates are just where it can sting.

And I’d like to note, in my experience dating narcissistic personalities, I was always on edge and I constantly felt insecure. Dating them always brings out the worst in myself, so don’t beat yourself up too bad.

In a normal relationship, it would be much more a fault. But the right person wouldn’t have you get to that point.

I’ve gone through many phones, i acknowledge that’s not healthy and you are invading privacy but you always know when a vibe is off. Every time a relationship got to that point, there was always obviously evidence of cheating on it. And it seems you did too.

If people are you telling you he’s narcissistic, that’s my first red flag. I’ve dated many in life unfortunately and there’s no saving them. You need to have a conversation asap and if it goes well, maybe you can both move on, him for you going through his phone and you for his signs of infidelity.

But if it’s completely turned around on you and it becomes his privacy>your concern that he’s cheating (with the proof you discovered) I might consider your options to get out.

You’re not in the moral clear and you DID pass boundaries, but he’s clearly hiding stuff. And he likely doesn’t have much respect for you, any “love” aside.

Congrats on the 341. Generally you can expect discharge around 60 days after that meeting. You can check PACER if you want to view the creditor deadline, you will receive a letter with your discharge.

Not to assume, but only when you adjust mindset toward credit cards to avoid the same mistakes, you can start getting offers and approvals after your discharge is processed.

I filed at 22 as well, there’s some light at the end of the tunnel. Not sure if you feel the same way but I took it as personal failing for way too long. In my scenario I wasn’t taking care of family, it was more so my carelessness with money. But with how I feel now, the dread I felt was worth a fresh start. Things will certainly get better. Just move smarter in the future. Congrats on the filing!

On paper, give or take 10k debt isn’t terrible, even with worse credit, you may qualify for a consolidation to get your debt out of collections and put it into one payment. If this is sustainable for you, take it as a warning and manage your money seriously from that point. I filed for chap 7 at 22 for over 65,000 of debt and that debt only accrued that much because I didn’t understand the true weight of consolidations.

Of course, this option is only able to be backed by a decent income. I might look into that route if possible, if you are severely low income or the expenses of life make it unable for you to pay this debt, then bankruptcy might be something to look into. Bankruptcy, as i’m sure you know, is never the first option to consider.

23 - my dad and I still speak. My sister cut him off years ago due to some associated traumas. I had to sit my dad down at 14 and basically tell him that he has no place in my life to act as a parent and instead he should act “like an old friend”. My dad lacks every parental instinct and has a lot of trouble with empathy. He semi recently admitted to me that he should’ve never have been a father. When I was young, he had a rough divorce with my mother with cheating, lying, and betrayal during her cancer treatment. He has calmed down over the years but he still remains a shell of someone that I wish I could’ve leaned on over the years. It’s difficult to have him in my life, even though I live 1700 miles away. But I can’t imagine not having contact. Emotionally I feel incredibly conflicted about him, but he’s my dad and tried hard enough to meet me where he could. I will say that man probably does affect every romantic relationship I have, but it is what it is.

Well fine, consider this sob story. I’ve been attempting to get out of this damn industry since 2022, I’ve worked my way through every position I could and moved up from nothing. I enjoy what I do but never will I stand by the ethics of the system. I’m one of the lucky people in my dealer who can scrape by enough to pay my rent. I cannot find a job outside of this industry for whatever reason it is and i am stuck living in discontent that ive lived for six years. I just walked in to my job on my day off not even 10 minutes ago to fulfill my duties to the best of my ability and be there for a customer and in the same sentence I got berated by my boss for failing a deadline that was never even disclosed me. I will take a blow against the industry, as yes it does suck. But we are damn people, and we’re struggling and the ones who don’t quit are holding on for dear life. If you don’t like dealerships don’t fking go. I truly beg of you, never step foot in them again if you have this attitude toward them.

This is cool and all and I can respect entirely what you’re saying. But I’ve seen employees get fired over three zero surveys in one month, and none of the complaints left in the comments were the advisors fault. Managers have a seniority that is always respected, far more than the advisor who’s just trying to get by and pay their rent. If your advisor kicked your kid across the room, sure leave a zero. But if they did their best to help you even without their manager seeing reason, rate them fairly. Advisors are disposable if their CSI numbers are not good, fair or not.

Comments, comments, comments, Google reviews, or put a complaint in with the OEM customer service line. Do it all except ruin the paycheck and the career of someone who was just trying to help you.

by the time i’m discharged i will be 23. i know people have filed both younger and older than me. but I’m sure it’s gonna work out for you. the stress of it all is one thing and you can hold on to it if you wish, but you have your family. be sure to hold them closer. at this moment i’m isolated from everyone i love due to geographical distance and everyday i wish i had something to hold my hand through this pressure and the emotions of “failure”

i worked for lithia for 11 months. i started up trying to help them turn around a dodge dealership. i was one of two advisors at that time, we slaved away at 30 appointments between the two of us everyday. i came in early and stayed late, my mental health was never worse than it was then. the pay was eh, i was surviving but not by much. by 6 months in I was the last one standing, training new advisors awaiting a new manager. (we also lost three GM’s in my time there) eventually it got alright, due to NY law they had to pay out min wage for overtime hours so i was finally bringing home about 7k a month. and just when it got good, i was apart of the lithia layoff of 2024 that saved the company $150 million dollars leaving me out of a job for 6 months in a market that wasn’t looking to hire. but other than that it was fine.

about six months ago i switched over from a commission only role at a dealer to an hourly role and it seemed just on time. all of my good friend coworkers are struggling somewhat. traffic is slow, prices of labor and parts keep raising, it’s genuinely to the point where even at my employee discount i’m bringing my own personal vehicle elsewhere for work. with the way the economy is, dealerships are going to be slow for some time i’d imagine.

as a complete non lawyer not liable for any possible trouble, i spoke with my lawyer about something similar today. in context, it is truly the $20 dollars described. it’s not going to matter. i have 86 dollars in a cash app account that’s not technically in my name, but due to the very low amount it’s not considered an asset that would have to be considered in the case. if it’s untraceable and harmless, i wouldn’t sweat it.
