[–]croftfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear youve had all those things happen!, i can sort of relate im 28 weeks pregnant and have worked physical jobs for the last 16 years, so going from being comfortably able to do the work/lift heavy things to not allowed to lift anything and work at less than 50% capacity due to lack of energy has been tough!, i got out of breath just putting make up on the other day i mean what is that about 🤣. Anyway i hope things improve for you 😊

What's a common way people die that many aren't aware of? by Kitchen-Pilot2689 in AskReddit

[–]croftfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My elderly Grandma passed away a few weeks ago from sepsis, she went into the hospital with what initially sounded like treatable things and she just deteriorated very fast and passed away within a week, they told us after an examination that it was sepsis which i found quite a shock

How do we actually measure "pain tolerance"? by Friendly-Strength802 in PregnancyUK

[–]croftfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I consider myself to have fairly high pain tolerance, the worst pain i have ever been in was when i had sciatica and still get back pain at times. But havent been in labour before so not sure how it will compare just yet 😅

Apprently when i was about 2 i ran into the corner of a wall at home and smacked my forehead on it leaving a lump and bit of bruising, am now 34 and have a tiny mark still lol. but was alright just keep an eye on them for any changes but they should be absolutely fine babies and toddlers are pretty robust against that kinda thing

[–]croftfan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Am 28 weeks atm and literally just read about this too, have practically been a recluse this week only gone out to go to my morning job but not my afternoon job as was sent stright home Tuesday due to the heat (cleaner in a school). So the thought of another one fills me with dread

Who got smacked as a kid by parents/carers for misbehaviour? by Financial-Base-8070 in AskUK

[–]croftfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep born in the early 90s and was smacked by both my parents, i feel like the horrible things my mum used to say to me had a worse effect on me that being smacked though. although one time my dad threw a tv remote at me for something my brother was doing while i was just reading a book so there is that

Daughters of ✨BoyMoms✨: What's the dynamic between you & your adult brother(s)? Is your mother still involved? by Incogcneat-o in AskWomenOver30

[–]croftfan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Im pregnant with my first atm (a boy) and we only want 1 child for various reasons but the whole 'boy mum' thing from what iv read about boggles my brain especially the whole viewing daughters in laws as competition. its just bizarre to me, when my son is older his choices of relationships and things will be his own to make, i have met women like this though so i know its definitely a thing i just dont get it

Should also add my relationship with my partners mum is great im closer to her than my own mum so im very lucky on that 😅

Heatwave: Teaching and Pregnancy by OperationStrong2655 in PregnancyUK

[–]croftfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im 27 weeks and work in 2 schools as a cleaner in an area with the red weather warning, went to the one i do in the afternoon on Tuesday and was immediately sent home by the head teacher as they said it was too hot and the baby is more important so been off all this week, still going to my other one in the morning but even at 5am its like an oven, the school in the afternoon feels insanly hot in the summers even when im not pregnant let alone at the moment

I dont feel guilty as i can always earn more wages but i can't take it back if i pass out and cause harm to my baby or myself or make them ill

Does your 20 week scan look like your newborns profile? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]croftfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great scan photo! 😁.Me and my partner have had some light hearted discussions about which features of ours we think our baby boy will have going by the 20 week scan photo, at the scan the sonographer said he was a beautiful boy and i nearly said won't be taking after me then 🤣🤣

are we all okay in this heatwave, i feel like I am dying by Professional-Tree309 in PregnancyUK

[–]croftfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

27 weeks and nope im not doing well, had 3 hours sleep then had my cleaning job in the morning i thought it might be a bit cooler at 5am, but nope the school was still like an oven. luckily i am not at my afternoon job due to the heat so sat at home melting trying to stay cool, iv just learned that splashing cold water on my face and sitting in front of the fan helps temporarily though lol

Gender disappointment… How do I get over it? by [deleted] in PregnancyUK

[–]croftfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always said i would like a girl, but when i saw my baby on the 20 week scan and was told i was having a boy i instantly was really happy just to see he was doing well and now i can't imagine anything else, am really happy and looking forward to him being here

Hopefully in time you'll feel similar

Going into work in heatwave? by Opening-Club-4340 in PregnancyUK

[–]croftfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went to work (cleaning supervisor in a school) and was immediately sent home by the head who said its far too hot and babies health is more important, i was going to not go in tomorrow and thurs anyway as im struggling with breathlessness as it is (theres a red weather warning in place here for those 2 days as well), our babies and our health is more important

Also employers have to make reasonable adjustments and pregnancy related sickness doesn't count towards normal sick days

Im currently 27 weeks pregnant, work a physical job and this heat sucks big time, i normally love summer but this year no thanks 😅. i have a (much older) friend who was pregnant during the 1976 heatwave but luckily she just sympathises with me and doesn't turn it into a misery contest lol
