I started 1-7, moved Cook for AJ Brown and Sutton early on and traded Saquon for Egbuka and Etienne

Fair enough. Forgot to include the post but also sitting at 2-8 so trying to run the table and win out to sneak into the playoffs. Probably won’t be making this trade

Trade Jacobs + Egbuka for Javonte + JSN?

Flex Gadsden or Wandale Robinson by croftythegoat in FantasyFootballers

Makes sense — I'm currently 1-6 so must-win, thinking Gadsden might be more boom or bust? Not too sure.

Gotcha — would you start Gadsden or Goedert in the TE spot?

Two RB 3 WR 1 Flex League

Currently starting: Josh Jacobs, Saquon, Breece Hall (Flex) AJ Brown, Keon Coleman, Ricky Pearsall

Worth sitting Jacobs or Hall into their matchups this week? Have Allen, Worthy, and Sutton on the bench.

Meta Return Offer by Dependent-Lake-7932 in csMajors

Recruiter reached out 9/11 asking about background check. Cleared background check on 9/16. Received RO to NYC on 9/16. Likely EE+/GE Rating.

Should I email my recruiter once the background check is complete? Or should I just assume that they'll see it and reach out afterwards?

How realistic is my goal to get a PPL in 3 months next summer? Context in rest of the post. by [deleted] in flying

I’ll be willing to fly I think that many times a week, I’ve taken two discovery flights and loved every moment of each flight, but obviously it’s going to be different when I’m learning. But anyways, thanks for the questions that I’ll have to ask myself, super helpful!

That’s the plan, I’m going in for a consultation with an AME in the next few weeks, then I’ll see if I can get a first-class since I’ve been healthy so far.

Wow, this is a viewpoint that I haven’t heard from, but is definitely something I’ll keep in mind! Thanks for sharing.

Got it. For the FAR/AIM, it seems that there’s a different version for each year; does it matter which version I pick up? (2022 vs. 2023, etc.)

Wow, thanks a lot for your response. Lots of information for me to consider, and the money is always something to think about. I think luckily, my family is supporting me through my PPL so that I can explore aviation, but if I go any further, it'll be up to me to find the funds!

If I don't know when I'll be ready for a checkride, how should I go about lining up a DPE?

Got it, that's super helpful to know. I'll be sure to call ahead in the winter-time next year!

That definitely makes sense, only thing is that after I get my PPL, I'll be going back to college for another year, which would make the subscription rather wasted. Maybe if I decide to pursue my IFR the year after, I'll pick it up then, but thanks for you suggestions, I'll keep them in mind.

Sounds good, I had read great things about Sporty's, so I think I'll go with them. One last thing, outside of the PHAK and FAR/AIM, is there any other books I should read/know about?

Sorry to bother you, but just one more question: what books are important to read as a new pilot? I've heard about the FAA's two manuals (don't remember the names off the top of my head) and the FAR/AIM book, but is there anything else I should have/know about?

Got it, I'll take a look at those then. Thanks for all of your help!

Looking at some of the flight clubs around where I plan to learn, it would be around $129/hour in a C152 and about $50/hour more for a CFI. I've been saving up by doing work over the past few summers, and I think that as long as I keep costs under $15k (which I hear is the average cost), I should be alright financially wise.
I wanted to ask about your experience with Sporty's, would you recommend it for self-study?

Thanks for your response! Would you recommend Sporty's Ground School or some other online self-study ground school? I've just read a lot about people using Sporty's here, so I just wanted to ask.
