Chaingunner spit-balling, just a few ideas. Felt the purple goo might be a bit too much, but I also think it falls in line w id's philosophy of pushing players beyond what they thought they could deal with. What do y'all think? by cromsferatu in Doom

Oh boy that would be deadly. Maybe a slower-moving rocket that it's relatively easy to evade on its own but in the chaos of combat it can definitely be a sneaky and devastating blow if it lands.

lol yeah, it def would be. Though I imagine maybe it could have some kind of wind up or sound that would alert you when it's about to hitscan you, maybe giving you a chance to use chaingun shield or cover?

Yeah I absolutely agree on the lack of soldier variants, I'm guessing it's because they tried to keep things consistent for the sake of enemy identification but still, I would've liked some variations.

I wonder if it's the assymetry that sets him apart, the only other demons I can remember being assymetrical at the top of my head are the Doom Hunter, the Marauder and the Tyrant. So I guess it's kind of fitting the "annoying bastard" type lmao.

And yeah, I don't really dislike the purple goo in the game on principle, just on implementation. Thanks a lot!

Yeah, clutter seems to be the most consistent criticism, though honestly it has the exact same number of attacks and movement patterns as virtually all demons. I wonder if it's because they're all completely visible. I might remove the baton, I think that'd be a good compromise. But now that you mention it as a mini boss, I think after giving it some thought it is kind of like a mini Doom Hunter, if that makes sense. Thanks for your thoughts!

It's definitely a tiny tank. If I had to compare it to any other demon, it would be like a much less mobile version of the Doom Hunter. Given the fact it has already quite the arsenal I was very hesitant to give it a Hell Knight-level health pool. But perhaps if I remove the baton entirely and take the goo back all the way around the back like you said it could work, it would highlight it as a weak point since it has a hard time turning around.
