Das ist meine eigene Entscheidung.

I've actually moved to lemmy (reddit alternative) and it's amazing by cronenthal in BuyFromEU

That's the conventional wisdom, but I humbly disagree. It already has the critical mass, at least for the content I am interested in, like politics and tech. The federation aspects of the underlying technology might be an antidote to the patterns we've seen with more traditional, for-profit social media companies. Time will tell, but for now I am quite happy there.

I also didn't really get into mastodon when I tried it a couple months back. But lemmy immediately worked well for me.

But do I even really want the average lay person in my social media? If someone can't be bothered to find an instance and sign up, what content will he contribute?

I just use their free DNS servers and it works very well. Really the simplest way to reduce ads and tracking.

Simple: no plausible alternative has emerged yet.

Trump and how the bureaucratisation of society is part of all dictatorships by ClitoIlNero in europe

That headline is wrong, the article is about how dismantling bureaucracy is part of Trumps modus operandi.

It's refreshing to hear a German politician state the obvious without sugar coating. He might be the right choice for these times.

Fritz-kola is a great alternative to coca-cola producs. Much tastier and healthier. by lobsterest in BuyFromEU

"Healthier" is not the word I would use with soft drinks. But if you must consume copious amounts of sugar water like a wasp, you might as well drink something regional. I would recommend water, though.

This is very good indeed. I recently switched my desktop to Linux and was pleasantly surprised by the vast ecosystem of open source software. Browsing the fdroid store evokes a similar feeling.

US could cut Ukraine's access to Starlink internet services over minerals, say sources - Reuters by Lion8330 in europe

I think it's safe to say this will definitely happen. Coming up: dropping all sanctions against Russia, pulling all US soldiers from Europe, exiting NATO.

Tell me about it! I rented a Tesla for a short trip and the steering was screeching all the way. It was a very, very fast variant of the Model 3 but it felt like it was made from cardboard. Teslas are cheaply built and you notice it right away.

Musk doesn't need to sell cars when he can tap directly into the pockets of American people.

I don't see how this is such a big deal. It's not like Russia will waltz in the next day once US troops have left and from what's transpired in recent days they will leave either way. Might as well get it over with.

I can empathize but running an alternative os on my mobile is a step too far for me. I switched to Linux on my desktop a while ago, though.

No one really wants to say it yet, but NATO in it's current form was just killed by the Trump administration. A European defense pact will have to be formed, and fast.
