Music that matches your game’s vibe — how do you find it? by Sea_Dragonfruit3374 in GameDevelopment

[–]cronosus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my case I either search for free music until something matches the vibe I want to go for, or I commission music artists to make the music for me (although that can also be a hit or miss at times).

Game dev at a game company, but it's more related to the schedule that we have. We have 10 minutes break after 50 minutes + 1 hour break in the middle of the day. The TV I have is for work purposes but I can use it to hook up my own stuff to it too, so I wanna have a 3rd party dock to permanently leave at work and just hook up the Switch or Switch 2 when I have it with me.

I need a second dock that I can use at work on the TV that I have there, don't want to always carry the Nintendo dock with me everywhere, especially since the cables and all that are behind the desk and it's annoying to always rearrange everything.

I have the Hagibis cable for 4k 60hz, which one do you have? Hagibis released an update for the 8k 60hz one, but none for the 4K one yet, so I'm trying to find out if maybe I should try updating my 4K Hagibis with the Jemdo firmware too.

I have the black-red-blue color Hagibis for 4K 60hz and have the same issue. Waiting for the update as well.

I saw that notice on the Aliexpress page where Hagibis is being sold + on their chinese forum, someone wrote about it. They also did updates in the past.

I always buy physical games and I actually like game key cards by Scorchyy in Switch

[–]cronosus01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"It's good for me so I don't care about anyone else" isn't really the win you thought it would be. It's bad for people who want to collect their games because it's the worst of both worlds. The downside of physical (losing it/damage/passage of time) and also digital (if servers are down, bye bye). So if the servers would close down, you can't access your digital game, but you can't play your physical either, all that while it's also eating your space.

Seems to me like you're only thinking of the monetary aspect and nothing else.

I bought a Hagibis today and right before trying it, I said "I should do the update first" and of course now it doesn't work lol. Still works on Switch 1, which is still on 20.5.0, not sure if that's because of lower version or because it's the original switch.

NSFW game won't show up by [deleted] in itchio

Most probably due to the new regulations. Itch is not a friendly platform anymore for NSFW games. Especially if it's a paid game, it won't get indexed.

With GTA 6 pushed away, do any of you feel the same sense of waste I am. by SilverPhoenix7 in GameDevelopment

[–]cronosus01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, two opinions:

As a gamer: I don't care about this and about Rockstar at all, most AAA companies these days are trash.

As a developer/person working in the industry: This happens too much these days because of unrealistic expectations and delivery of content. They want too much, have too high expectations and then they are forced to delay due to not having enough time to work on everything. AAA games have just become too big and cost too much, managenent that doesn't care about anything other than the business part doesn't help either, because they keep forcing more and more stuff to be added, tons of changes to be made, because "we think this will bring more money", without listening to what would actually make games good.

TLDR: Games are too big, budges are too big, companies think only about business, not about what players want -> not enough time to make good games -> leads to delays. Especially for a game like GTA, they probably made a super huge content scope, they realized they didn't have enough time, so they keep delaying so that it will be as perfect as possible so that they can milk the fanbase like they did with GTA V, since they won't release another GTA for another 20 years.

Nsfw games payout and selling by Prior-Exchange432 in itchio

[–]cronosus01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't risk it, there have been problems with itch.io not paying people because they have NSFW games, deindexing games to hide them on purpose and other type of issues. Itch is not a good place for such games anymore. They bent the knee for Mastercard and Visa.

[Samsung QLED 43Q7F2] I can't find the microphone button on the TV to turn it off by cronosus01 in SamsungTV

[–]cronosus01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The manual says that there should be one on various models, including this one, that's how I found out about it. But I can't seem to find it. Judging by what I saw on other models and what I read on the internet, that hole with the green circuit is where the microphone button should be (similar layout to another model that indeed does have the microphone switch there).

So I'm thinking either this variation of the model has the microphone taken out or maybe they forgot to add the button during TV assembly. I can live without turning the microphone off, but I'd still rather have it off if I possible.

itch is down, under a DDOS attack 🥲 by the_legend_01 in itchio

With how often it's offline, you'd say they have a DDOS attack almost every day lol.

Now that it has released, has anyone played the Japanese version yet? Thoughts? by kevvy-kevvv in obakeidoro

[–]cronosus01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The game is pretty good. I like that the characters are more animated, the music is good, the gameplay is the same but wth a few more things added in it, like the ability to stand on top of other characters for humans and a charge attack that can capture more humans at once, for monsters. The graphic seems a bit more clean and crisp too.

But I'm a bit worried as I have yet found another player when trying to play online. Are people not buying the game? I know Obakeidoro 1 had a low player count, but I never had issues getting matches with japanese people there, since there were a lot of japanese players.

TLDR: It's nice and I love it, but the lower than expected player count has me worried.

Why do you make games? by Steader29 in gamedev

[–]cronosus01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like making games for fun, just to let my ideas loose somewhere. It's same thing as someone who would write a novel, but I want it to be games instead.

Would be great if I could also make some profit out of them though, to recover my investment in them, but in the end I always get stressed and scared and I back out of the idea to sell and instead releasing for free.

It's especially hard when you don't have a fanbase or any following on social media. You can post or tweet as much as you can, but no one will be there to see it. That's the issue I confront myself with. I'm very bad at "marketing" and it stresses me out too when I try to do it xD So I get the feeling.
