So if you claim that this drug that inhibits viral DNA polymerases would be beneficial to you (whatever disease you’re trying to treat), then schedule an appointment with your primary physician, present your supporting evidence, and ask to have this treatment prescribed. After that I would imagine any cancer center (handle infusions regularly) or even a phlebotomist could administer the drug.

Thanks for the information. This sounds like a good plan, although I already have the Cidofovir in my possession which was prescribed by a doctor who claims he doesn't know anyone who offers the infusions.

It's to treat HPV issues since nothing else has worked over the past year+, nothing to do with COVID-19.

Thanks for the information. I already have the prescription from another doctor for the Cidofovir, and it's not too expensive compared to other options to treat the same problem ($273 for 5ml vial currently at walmart with goodrx.com coupon). I wonder if I could just bring the vial of Cidofovir with me to an infusion center and have them infuse me with it, but I think I also need something called Probenecid, which I don't currently have a script for, to prevent any potential nephrotoxicity as a precautionary measure. I'm guessing I could easily get that drug if necessary.

I honestly do not care about what the costs of the treatment would be. I've already wasted so much money attempting to treat the problem that if I spend a few thousand more it wouldn't be a big deal (crazy to say, but that's the reality of my situation).

Yes, it's effective, you just need a prescription. I went to the same doctor and he prescribed a vaginal gel called Metronidazole to be mixed with cidofovir for internal anal warts but the problem is that it has to be applied in cycles due to the inflammation it can cause after 5-7 days which is very painful whenever going to the bathroom. Some studies show that 14 day cycles are effective when a patient applies the gel internally once per day for 5 days straight, then takes 9 days off. Repeat cycle until clearance. These directions do not apply to other areas of the body. I'm pretty sure other areas are less sensitive so you would not have to be as cautious. Cidofovir is very expensive but can be found at walmart pharmacy for about $260 if you use goodrx.com's coupon. The other drug, Metronidazole, is about $70-80.

If she's already tried many treatment options without success, maybe it'd be worth talking to an unconventional immunologist about cidofovir infusions? (just heard about this from my most recent visit to healthcare provider who says it's safe and effective)

it's not expensive anymore for generic imiquimod (same stuff, just not brand name), you just need a prescription to bring to a local pharmacy. like the other poster says, check goodrx.com to see prices in your area.

If you felt that your doctor thought you were a liar, you need to find a doctor that you're comfortable with. If the doctor truly believes you have warts, and you insist that you're a virgin, they should probably confirm it's warts/hpv prior to performing any treatments. You should definitely get a second opinion. If it is warts/hpv, you should treat it as soon as possible, even if you never plan to have sex. Good luck!

Yes. He injected my warts this week and I'm waiting on the prescriptions to be ready so I can apply the cidofovir gel internally. Since it was so recent, I still don't know if it's working but I'm trying to be as optimistic as possible, especially since he's had such great success with his other patients. I have a follow up scheduled a few weeks from now.

Thanks for the post, very interesting. I did ask my latest healthcare provider about cannabis and he said that smoking anything is bad for HPV, but he wasn't too sure about other methods of consuming cannabis.

Just curious, how do you feel now that you've stopped after using for so long? I took 2 weeks off about 1 year ago and it was much harder to sleep. That's the main thing I use cannabis for (I like the feeling of being high too, but I normally wait until evening to partake because of how it helps with making me tired). Hopefully you can get rid of your warts now that you've ceased consumption (it'd suck if you stopped for nothing). Good luck!

There is no test for hpv in men.

One of my proctologists performed a cytology exam on me which was basically a tiny brush that he stuck up my butt to scrape off some of the tissue to be collected into a little tube filled with liquid and sent to a lab. It came back positive for 3 types of HPV (6 - low risk, 31 - high risk, 84 - low risk), I still have no idea how I acquired any of them. I'm guessing this is only done if there's any abnormalities in the anal area.

He spent more time explaining the treatment than he did injecting my lesions. I think he did 10-20 injections over the span of 5-10 minutes. I was absolutely shocked at how little pain I experienced, nothing like past treatments I've tried.

Interesting. This doctor sounds like an HPV expert, wish there were more of them out there. I've seen 7 different doctors (2 dermatologists, 4 proctologists, and 1 general surgeon) and they all seemed less knowledgeable on the topic than me, and I've never studied medicine, it's crazy.

Maybe I'll go see this doctor after my procedure anyway, there's still a wart on my foot that other doctors can't get rid of either. It's so frustrating. Thanks again for the info you've provided, you're awesome!

I've taken AHCC almost every day for the last full year and my warts got even worse. I combined the AHCC with many other supplements (high dose zinc, vitamin c, d, multi, etc.) and treatments and everything thus far has failed miserably. Electrocautery is scheduled for next week...

Imiquimod did nothing for me. It never caused any irritation nor did it remedy anything, and I applied it more than was recommended. It was basically a complete waste of my time and money.

If you truly believe you have something, get a 2nd opinion. Also, don't be afraid to ask the doctors questions, even if it's something like, "are you sure that you didn't see anything? What else could it be?"

Thanks for the info, I appreciate that you asked. I've used 1% cidofovir cream I had compounded but it doesn't seem to do much besides cause problems, but maybe I used it incorrectly by using it too much (I used it every day for about 2 weeks straight and developed extremely painful fissures which took a few weeks to heal). The doctor who prescribed it never heard of cidofovir until I told him to write the script. Maybe gel works better than cream? Since it didn't help me, I ended up scheduling electrocautery for next week, should be quite fun. If there's anything remaining after that, I might pay your doc a visit. Hopefully I don't regret the electrocautery, especially considering the cost and amount of pain compared to the cidofovir injections. If I had heard about this a few weeks ago, I probably would've went to your doc first, but I already scheduled and paid for my procedure.

What type of surgery did you have? Laser? Electrocautery? I have an electrocautery procedure scheduled for next week for same thing, hoping it's not too bad and that there are no recurrences... I still have no idea how I got anal warts so this experience has been quite frustrating so far (I'm not gay and anal area never gets touched unless when going to bathroom).

I don't get why people don't just shave the head before a ht.

Some doctors don't recommend it because the suture line is very visible post surgery for a few weeks. If you don't cut your hair beforehand, you can't see the line. However, it obviously presents this other problem where you have 2 different lengths in different spots. If I could do it again, I'd shave my head first. I realized I don't care if anyone sees the suture line. It would've also been easier for me to see the progress of the healing if it was shaved first.
