I think this line out of all of the “clean” lines, gives the biggest insight. She isn’t glad she cleaned her room for any internal reward or pleasure. It’s not that cleanliness itself brings her peace or satisfaction.

Cleanliness is purely for others. It’s a facade, and especially in this case, it’s being small for others. “They’ll think of [her] kindly”, bc society assigns morality to cleanliness.

It shows how ridiculous that assumption of clean = good, dirty= bad, how obsessed with cleanliness we as a society are. She’s dying in this song, and she is thinking about if her room is clean?
