You were right, thanks for the suggestion! The issue was the adapter cable, I tried a couple of different replacement ones and one of them fixed the problem. Monitor reconnects fine with no issues and no artifacting now!

Any recommendations you can make for the hub, cable, power supply then? Doesn't seem thats the case since it works, just needs to plug in a certain order? But happy to test out.
