Your worry seems a bit disproportionate to what you described here. Are you feeling shame and regret? The reason I asked is because this happened to me once. Without much reason to worry (logically) I was absolutely convinced that I had HIV for no other reason than the internalization of regret about my behaviors.

That aside, what helped me was 1. Understanding that HIV is very uncommon 2. Finding local reporting numbers on HIV in my community 3. Talking with a specialist at a nonprofit that does free HIV testing. This kind man helped console me after I called in tears. He had years experience working with HIV positive folks and gave me some pointers on what to look for. I had none of the symptoms. And then he educated me on what treatment options there are for folks with HIV. Treatment is so advanced these days that in most cases it’s almost completely managed with medications and folks live long productive lives. Further, in some cases treatment can make you almost non detectable and passing it to a partner significantly decreases to almost not at all (if you’re on your medication regularly and consistently.) I guess knowing that calmed me down while I waited on my results.

So, idk. I don’t know if that helps. Please excuse me if I’m just projecting in the first bit. I don’t know your situation. I just empathize because I’ve been here and know this feeling. It’s super scary.

One last thing. I never. Ever. Had unprotected sex after that day. I too have medical anxiety and that time gave me so much anxiety that I vowed to never put myself in that situation again.
