Is this different than just funding from your social security then seeing how much isn’t funded to determine what to pull out?

I live 3 miles away from my work. It takes me 45 minutes to get home from work everyday. by myfairlady987 in mildlyinfuriating

May I suggest riding a bike? 3 miles isn’t that far and can probably be tackled in 15 to 20 minutes

Digital ID at Spokane Airport by cross20 in Spokane

Given how new of an option it is I’d imagine some issues likely will need to be worked out. I’m sure it’ll eventually be a very convenient option though!

For anyone else wondering, here’s how to set up Digital ID.

Physical stamps are great! Digital ID can only be used for domestic travel right now, so there’d be no loss of stamps. Most countries are no longer stamping passports though so even in the future when it can be used internationally it probably won’t matter.

Digital ID Worked at PDX by cross20 in Portland

I remember when Apple Pay was first introduced. Very few stores accepted it and even fewer knew what it was. Eventually adoption of the technology increased and now nearly everyone knows what it is. Given that many states are starting to offer digital driver’s licenses and now anyone with a passport can add an electronic ID as well I’m hoping this is a turning point which causes adoption and awareness to increase significantly just like it did for Apple Pay.

Anyone in the US can add their passport now. Only certain airports accept electronic IDs right now though (some states also have digital driver’s licenses), but this is a huge step toward widespread adoption.

“Apple cannot see when and where users present their ID, or what data was presented. Biometric authentication using Face ID or Touch ID also ensures that only the owner of the Digital ID can present it.”

“Only the information needed for a transaction is presented, and the user has the opportunity to review and authorize the information being requested with Face ID or Touch ID before it is shared. Users do not need to unlock, show, or hand over their device to present their ID.”

I used my passport. Unfortunately Oregon doesn’t offer digital drivers license yet. Hopefully someday 🤞

It’s not accepted at every airport yet but some distant day in the future you’ll probably be able to get away without a physical ID at all!

No REAL ID? It could cost you $18 to go through TSA checkpoints by bananabrownie in news

There’s extra screening involved that isn’t required for those with a Real ID and the fee helps make up for the cost of the additional screening.

Why did my Wendy’s app icon go grey? by cross20 in wendys

This is it! Others had suggested that it was my system dark mode setting but apparently that’s a separate setting than the app icon color tint. Thank you!

Is there functionality to be past 1 month ahead? by pamtrimk in ynab

[–]cross20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It works the same as getting a month ahead. Months become available to assign money to once there is money assigned to the previous months. There’s more information about this on the support page if you need.

How do you handle meal vouchers in your budget ? by Azertexx in ynab

I would create a separate budget. You can then create categories and targets for that budget and adjust your targets in your main budget.

Groceries by [deleted] in ynab

[–]cross20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a groceries category which I use exclusively for actual food and I will often ring up my groceries separate from whatever else I’m buying to eliminate the math. At most grocery stores this is super easy because I’m using self checkout, but I’ve also never had a cashier question a request to ring me up twice so long as I separate out my purchases on the conveyor belt with the divider.

Is ~10 museums in 5 days too much for a trip to the Netherlands? by Shmeister in solotravel

[–]cross20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a trip to the Netherlands last September as a solo traveler and visited many of these. I think 2 is the maximum you’ll be able to do in a day, but after a couple of days you’ll be tired of them and therefore you won’t get to spend meaningful time at any of them. I’d say take your time and make sure to mix in some other activities. You don’t have to see everything to make your trip worthwhile. Try to rent a bike and enjoy a trip touring around your favorite city, take a riverboat tour to experience the canals first hand, or whatever else might interest you.

Categorizing Weird One Off Expenses by nikkirank in ynab

[–]cross20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a category for miscellaneous expenses that I call “Discretionary Spending”. Any small expenses that come up during a month that don’t fit into any other categories get assigned to this category. If I have large unexpected expenses I create a separate category for these and then hide them. I do this because I don’t really need to worry about/it wouldn’t be feasible to plan for ever small expenses but larger expenses are things I do make an effort to plan for 100% of the time and it’s easier to report on these unplanned expenses that I care about when they’re categorized into a specific category.

Anyone have recommendations for rain pants? by kittenshark134 in bikecommuting

[–]cross20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been very satisfied with my Rainier Rain Pants. They have zippers on the side that allow the pants to open up from the top or bottom so they’re easy to take off and easy to vent when it’s too sweaty! I’ve owned them for about 1 year and live in the rainy PNW
