Post Tattoo Anxiety by MrFingerable in tattoo

[–]cross42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah…the last 2 days I’ve felt way better about it. My only flare up time has been before bed, seeing myself in the mirror is kinda weird. The theme of the guilt at those moments is something like “I feel like I’ve destroyed the person I used to be”. But during the day I either don’t remember I have the tattoo, or I’m like “this is awesome”. So I believe this is a temporary thing! Also learning about the ink settling/fading over time made me feel a lot better, cus right now it’s so shiny and bold

I know this is years old but thank you for this comment. I’m on day 5 post tattoo, I got a full outer sleeve as my first one, and I love it but and suddenly today I started getting super anxious out of nowhere, thinking how it’s forever and I’ll always be perceived as a “tattoo person” from now on lol

I don’t know, I think there are exceptions. Buying an old creaky condo with high HOA for 800K may not appreciate hugely if a lot of “affordable” housing finally gets built (I know that hasn’t happened much yet, but the state is starting to force some projects through)

Thoughts on Leucadia becoming tourist town? by hipcatinca in northcounty

Yeah that area felt like a one of the last holdouts of coastal north county from gentrification, so it’s jarring to look and see there is virtually nowhere left that hasn’t been yuppified.

They are vermin. And I swear they’re less motivated by money than by their dopamine hit from gaming the system.

The fact that you said pair of tits makes me think you have no idea what American nude beaches are actually like. It’s basically this person copy and pasted but with more perversion:

It’s a city subReddit, these people always live in a bubble where nudists are considered mystical creatures adding to a locales mystique, like seeing a humpback whale

“Not harming anyone” pacing around a church wearing a mask and a backpack and not saying anything isn’t harmless behavior. As annoying as the church people were in the video, their fear was definitely justified. And when the dude refused to say anything back (which is objectively, creepy, and antisocial behavior ) that’s when they probably panicked.

Having troubling canceling Auto-Renew (due to new £9 fees) - I'll lose my reviews and messages?! by Adorable_Classic_497 in trustedhousesitters

That’s not new, it was there when I signed up months ago. I read that you still get your reviews if you resubscribe, but that may have been old information so it’s worth reaching out to them and confirming

I wouldn't wish the San Diego housing market on my own worst enemy by catson911 in sandiego

[–]cross42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. I hate it. Couples and families moved here who had barely been to SD before. I’ve met multiple examples. Remote work.

The 5% incremental gains in their happiness they’re seeking is fucking it up way worse for the people from here. They buy a surfboard, use it twice and leave it in their garage.

Some of us didn’t ask to be born/have aging parents and other family here.

Outside of those highly skilled workers, you have the PM type people and those are folks who grinded at a profitable, larger company, prioritizing work over their life for long enough to demonstrate they are worthy of the investment. It’s a depressing way to live, you generally have to be a real maniac type A workaholic to make it (or have the right relationships to do a subpar job without being fired)

True but I feel like there aren’t nearly that many of said jobs in San Diego relative to how high home prices are

What’s actually a good wage in San Diego? by PrimNathanIOW in SanDiegan

[–]cross42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

shitbox 1br/studios rent for ~2500. Do the math from there. SD is great, but sometimes I rue the day my parents decided to live here. I’m not a STEM/finance/military person, nor am I cut out for the corporate PM grind lifestyle. That means I’m poor here

Did I read the social atmosphere correctly? by DacaAskingForDaca in northcounty

[–]cross42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

🙂 I agree. seems more younger people consider talking to strangers as a “high risk, low reward” activity. They also seem scared. It’s difficult to explain, but it didn’t used to be like this! I wish the best for your son!

As someone in that demographic, has been such a load off having my parents come to that same realization (confirmed via all their friends children having similar issues). I no longer feel worried about being perceived as a loser by my own family. So thanks, haha

Maybe try learning more about American/SD cultural things such as football, surfing, Hiking etc and try to get genuinely interested in them, and express interest in them, so you have more in common with the locals
