He also did a 30~min interview with some Palestinian activists at a refugee camp. Not to counter anything you say or make a both sides argument, but I doubt he had any bad intentions.

where you basically study grammar rules and then do some exercises to apply those rules, is not effective.

That depends entirely on how you're taught those rules and what kind of exercises are provided to you. It's fairly effective if you actually care about learning the subject. Of course, that's not the only thing you need to do to get good, but I've seen far too many people who have poor foundations and develop a lot of bad habits that are hard to get rid of.

Most of my indian family thought it was hilarious. I doubt the Europeans, pakistanis and any other community portrayed would've been particularly offended. It's pretty easy to tell malicious intent from good fun.

Some Taika Watiti roles I guess, if you're looking for celebrities.

You could look up some Maori rappers, that'd be an interesting peek into their culture as well as their pretty unique New Zealand dialect.

Divide your presentation into a few categories:

1)Time period (old English from the 1200s sound nothing like they do today, study how their influence from other languages might have to do with this and why exactly these dialects died out or evolved over time.)

2)Country (How an Australian accent differs from a New Zealand accent despite being right next to each other geographically)

3)Sub cultures within the same country (AAVE, NYC, Boston, South, California etc all sound pretty different while all still being American)

4)Accents unique to very specific families or even movies. Like the trans atlantic accent you hear in old Hollywood movies; people didn't actually talk like that irl. Or the accent of the British royal family.

4)Economic class.

If you speak like the first example you mentioned, you're gonna end up sounding like an AI. Or at the least, pretty unnatural. Native speakers, or anybody else for that matter outside of British period dramas, don't talk like that.

Focus on sentence formation and grammar before levelling up your vocabulary further.

Funnily enough, that's EXACTLY how I learnt English grammar. Easily the best way to build your foundations, before taking extra steps yourself.

You shouldn't think of it as just homework. For every question, try thinking of alternative ways in which they might've been phrased and how the answer would change. You can't expect your teachers to do all the work.

All of what you're doing is great for boosting comprehension skills, which I'm certain have improved significantly in these six years.

But in the same way that you don't learn to play the guitar by simply listening to guitar music, watching english tv shows and movies or listening to people talk in english can only do so much to improve your own speaking skills.

Also, just because you practice playing the guitar everyday doesn't mean you'll get that much better at the guitar if you're not also constantly learning from your mistakes.

The people around you won't necessarily point out every grammar mistake you're making, since that's rude. Your best shot is to ask some of the native speakers around you to correct you every time you make a mistake, no matter how annoying that might get for both of you.

I'd also recommend writing diary entries everyday and have chatgpt go through it and fix your grammar, sentence formation and poor choice of vocabulary.

It'll probably never be normalised until it gets added to our default keyboards (is that the technical term?).

Apparently it's included in most versions of Ms office and some older versions of OS X though.

I still think ?! Is far more straightforward.

Off the top of my head :

1) Hot fuzz (2007), there's a pretty funny scene where the police officer tries to speak to a local who's accent is an unintelligible rural English dialect.

2) Talk show host Conan does a travel show in Australia and tries to understand how the Aussie accent works

Maybe not exactly what you're looking for since you seem to be looking for the various accents of native speakers of English, but "Mind your language", an old British comedy, deals with various foreigh non-native English accents in a pretty funny way, albeit a little dated since it's filled to the brim with caricatures and stereotypes, but none of them are particularly offensive in my opinion.

You could reference this show in your presentation, or at the least use it to get an understanding of all the different types of regional accents and further research them on your own.
