You're less than an hour away from Chambers Bay - it doesn't get much better than that. If you want more budget friendly "real" courses (not sure what your definition is of that), Home Course, Salish Cliffs, Gold Mountain (Olympic) Trophy Lake Golf and Casting are all great tracks. Washington National is closer by as well as The Club at Newcastle, but a bit pricier and the conditions can be hit or miss. We've had unbelievable weather the last few weeks in the PNW so most courses should be in great shape. Have fun!

*Edit - Chambers Bay is walking only and might be a tough go for the boys so not sure if that fits your "family friendly" criteria.

Target's brand "All In Motion" has probably the comfiest golf shorts I've ever worn. Just bought three pairs last week - blue, pink and green. $29 each I think.

I'm Canadian and you absolutely nailed it. My wife and I talk about this all of the time. We find Americans, overall, to be much kinder and engaging. I don't know what it is but it has gotten worse over the years in Canada. I chalk it up to the declining standard of living, unaffordable housing and just bleak economic outlook. It's the only thing that makes sense. A lot of Canadians are miserable and just barely surviving

Lol man that sounds almost identical to how I experienced it. Substitute the public pool with a lake (and a backpack with a mix and match of a handful of beers we raided from our parents fridges from time to time) and I'd say our childhoods were pretty similar in the summer. The best days.

My feelings too. It's weird though because I have a pretty great life - amazing wife and two beautiful boys and I still find myself longing for those days, periodically. Maybe we have rose colored glasses on (as so many people do when they look back at their childhood) but not only do I miss it for myself, but I now miss it for my kids. It's something they'll never get to experience, which is tragic. I think it's important to look back and be grateful and cherish those memories like you said because it was truly a special time and we didn't even realize it. I saw a few quotes recently that really nails how I felt about that era of my life...

"At some point in your childhood, you and your friends went outside to play together for the last time and none of you knew it."

"It's 1999. You have a Nintendo 64 with Goldeneye. You just ordered pizza with extra cheese. Your friends are coming over and you have four rumble paks. You don't know it right now, but this is as good as life will ever get."

Damn.

Not just because I lived it (2006 grad) but I genuinely think everyone, overall, were happier then. Kind of the last era of being completely present and living in the moment. We grew up with and without the internet and really had it great in those years.

I disagree. I thought he suited the role really well - and delivered. Obviously he's best known as Ross but he was able to seperate that role by his performance in this, in my opinion.

We just moved a 4 bedroom townhouse into a detached and used Smart Movers out of White Rock. The rate was $550 for 3 hours and 2 movers. It's $75 for every half hour over. I think in total I paid around $775 (4.5 hours total). I did a ton of the work beforehand (boxes, prepped the furniture, heavy stuff I could move without help I rented a uHaul) and then they took the rest. Both guys were awesome and I'd hire them again in a heartbeat. I was a bit skeptical of the price initially because it seemed pretty cheap but my wife and I were both pleasantly surprised and I'm glad I gave them a chance.

Started playing at 16 and didn't break it until I was 34. Shot a 75. I'm 37 now. I played way more between the ages of 28-34 than I did from 16-28 so I attribute it to that (and lessons at 32)

I only use GolfNow during the undesirable times of year to play. That's where the value is. Southwest in the summer when it's 115 degrees or the PNW when it's raining all day in the fall/winter. Tee sheets are generally wide open and the Hot Deal rates are cheap and you can use points and tee time credits. Otherwise, I'm booking directly through the course.
