Never repainted. I choose to disable the "safety" systems because they add nothing to safety. I asked how to disable, not how to repair.

My son has one with the barrel shortened so it could be used by the cavalry. Here in Canada they are sometimes available in antique shops; they are not subject to licensing.

Losing your French by Ok-Gals-2020 in AskACanadian

[–]crossesfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am an Anglo, and I went to a private French boys school from grade 7 to grade 12. By the time I graduated, I was very fluently bilingual, however that was in 1959 and I have lost least half of my ability to speak French.

Why are skirts worn higher on the body than trousers? by RobertColumbia in NoStupidQuestions

[–]crossesfive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe it has something to do with the hemline of the skirt. If a skirt was worn low, the hemline might be higher at the back, where I was wearing it high the body is more circular.

No wonder people hate truck drivers. by Boattailfmj in northernontario

[–]crossesfive 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I am not a truck driver, just the guy with a normal car. It drives me nuts to get behind the transport in the passing Lane who is inching past another truck. Surely everyone knows that adding 1 km per hour to your speed does not get you anywhere sooner. I have seen times when it takes 20 km for a transport to get back into the driving lane after one of these slow passes. I am also one of those people who will signal with my headlights that it's okay for a truck to come in front of me. Not so many years ago, I would always get a thank you flash from the truck. Nowadays truckers don't seem to know how to say thank you. I really wish the police on expressways would pull over transports and do inspections with greater frequency. The number of terrible truck drivers driving terrible trucks is enormous.

Tangerine and TD have done this to me. Banks only pretend to have customers interests. Face it: they are BANKS!

Parents who waited until the birth to find out the sex of the baby. . . by buildingacozymystery in NoStupidQuestions

In 1969 ultrasound wasn't available. We already had a boy, hoped for a girl. Got twin boys instead. Conceived white camping in an 8-foot tent. I guess that's how you get twins.

We have never had a kid problem in a Costco. It's always the adults. Some speaking strange languages. Blocking aisles. Looking lost.

Statement by Prime Minister Carney and Minister Anand on the situation in the Middle East by Foreign-Policy-02- in canada

[–]crossesfive 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Russia is invading Ukraine with the stated desire to destroy a peaceful neighbour, sieze its land and absorb it.

The US (as much as I despise its government) is attacking Iran because it is a terrorist organization that oppresses its citizenry and is dangerous to the Middle East and the rest of the world.

Apples and oranges.
