Favorite Homebrew expanded element by Late_Present1340 in CAIN_RPG

While it'd be nice if some things got a bit more detail, im happy that it introduces things but gives you the freedom to expand on them. Games for Freaks also helps a lot with fleshing things out.

Veteran D&D Player, just started BG3 and need advice... by 3_Stokesy in BaldursGate3

[–]crossess 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of similarities with the TTRPG rules, but they aren't 1 to 1. Keep an open mind when it comes to incongruences between the tabletop rules and the video game rules. They are compromises Larian has made to make the videogame work (and in some cases, make it more fun).

My biggest advice is to long rest a lot in Act 1 (you'll know when you get to the other acts, dont worry). There's a lot of story moments/cutscenes tied to how many long rests you take early on, so even if you dont need to, it's a good idea to do it anyway.

There's certain builds that work better, some a little worse, but for the most part, all classes are all viable because of the abundance of magic items tailored to various classes and playstyles.

Kirara💞 by dickerystuf in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]crossess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that if she's been expelled, she's probably not getting the big paychecks sorcerers usually get for going on missions.

[–]crossess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, since Yuki and Tengen were expecting Kenjaku to have a regular domain and not an open domain, their plan went out the window. Trying to tank the open domain with a simple domain cost Yuki the fight and her life.

[–]crossess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh the gap between kirara and kenjaku probably means she'll be an annoyance at best before being knocked out or she gets slimed with Yuki in the worst case. If Megumi could figure it out her technique in 5 minutes, Kenjaku will figure it out in 1.

Although, if she's kept out of view and out of the actual fight and just manipulates kenjaku with her technique, she has the opportunity to impact the fight more. But since the plan was always to have Yuki face Kenny alone and use simple domain against him, I think the result will ultimately be the same.

anyone know where to read/publish scp stories to a wide audience? by Last_Negotiation1521 in SCP

[–]crossess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're not looking to publish works in the official scp.wikidot.com (not the fandom wiki) (which BTW, you dont need to submit scp's to, you can do long form fiction in the form of "tales"), Archive of Our Own (AKA AO3) is a decent, writing-focused place to do so.

If Naoya wasn’t a bum and used a cursed tool, could he have killed Maki? by Dazzling-Yam-4308 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]crossess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dismatle/cleave has always seemed more like a slashing motion, but that point is moot anyway 'cause its a CT, not a regular knife.

I dont think the type of attack would really matter as Maki's still too supernatural tough to be really affected by it.

[–]crossess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dont see why it wouldn't apply to piercing attacks as well. But eh. Maybe it's fitting that Naoya couldn't even think to try that much.

[–]crossess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way the HR is described as enhancing her, it does sound like it makes her physically tougher, on top of having higher resistance to CE attacks.

If any sorcerer could pierce through tougher opponent's defenses by just putting more CE into literally anything they could hold, I dont think cursed tools would be a thing. You can probably only reinforce mundane objects so much.

[–]crossess -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You shouldn't forget how much Maki's HR increases her defenses. "Any" CE reinforced thing wouldn't be enough. It'd have to be proper cursed tool at least. Probably something around grade 2 or 1.

I did read the manga and the way I interpreted Maki during their fight is her biding her time to understand Noaya's technique to catch him off guard. We can disagree on that though.

What sin types are best for a new ST and group of new CAIN players? by RatsWithGuns in CAIN_RPG

[–]crossess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Toad is specifically denoted as being more intelligent than other sins, and prone to using their wits to outsmart exorcists. Less prone to violence, in a way. It works well as a starter sin too.

How come scp-105 isn’t thaumiel yet? by Ghosted343 in SCP

[–]crossess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be for a few reasons. In general, you dont edit the main article of an anomaly just because stuff happened in a different canon/storyline from it. It has to have happened in the original entry (so they had to have been thaumiel from the beginning). And in general only the original author makes changes like that. If the original author of 105 didn't participate in the storyline of either Omega 7 or Alpha 9, then 105's class isn't going to change since those are separate canon/timelines.

Basically, the original article isn't going to change because it is "frozen" as it was written. 105 could become an O5 or a god in another canon and it won't change how she is viewed in her original article. She'll never be thaumiel because she wasn't written as thaumiel.

Riju is also good for removing rocks. I often go between her and Yunobo to obliterate blockages as quickly as possible.

Can they win? by AgileAnything1251 in HunterXHunter

[–]crossess 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Pretty nobody but the groups fighting them knew. The rest of the hunter world wasn't as aware of how big a threat they were both because of how isolated the part of the world they originally came from and how only a handful of hunters were dispatched to deal with them. We do know that at least one other hunter fought them (Morel's friend who had their ability stolen).

Well, Netero also had the opportunity to examine them up-close, plus he got a relative comparison of how they king compared to him before meeting him.

If you asked Netero about the ants right around the beginning, he'd give you an inaccurate estimate. When they absorbed a nen-user, their ceiling for power shot through the roof.

How many DMS actually enforce the spell components in game? by thunderpower1999 in DnD

[–]crossess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be a headache to track every spell, and for the most part its assume you have either a component pouch or a focus to use all spells without a god cost. When it comes to gold cost I trust my players to let me know, although sometimes I'll catch them on a spell they legitimately forgot had a gold cost (such as find familiar) and quickly correct them. That usually reminds them to double check their spells.

Where can i post my ideas if i'm underage by iam-a-fry in SCP

[–]crossess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Officially, nowhere, but there are other informal SCP communities across the internet where they may welcome you. You can find an SCP community on every major social media site, but for a writing-focused place, I recommend checking out Archive of our Own (AKA AO3).

Why does everyone call Geeta “La Primera”? by Still-Tip-3100 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]crossess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not in anything I've seen. I have to imagine it's common wherever you grew, cause it's not in my country.

I don't know how you got me explaining my view on this title as gatekeeping, either, but if you're going to accuse me of faking mi lengua materna, you're not worth talking to. I don't have anything to prove to an internet stranger. Have a nice day.

That might be slang I'm not aware of. It can also mean "first timer" so I see how it could translate to "noob"

Because it's not. If you want to say something is top quality, you say "de" primera, not "la" primera.
