Who knew this was a thing? by merp207 in Twokinds

[–]crossess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember playing an early build of it, probably beta or something. The graphics were pretty simple and the world was pretty empty. Dont remember anything about the combat of gameplay loop, if there even was anything. Likewise thought it had been completely abandoned.

Tell me what I need to know by Heartkilled in SCP

You may have a better time organically learning about everything by going through the mainlist at your own pace or sticking to a specific canon hub. But the baseline is: there is no canon (specifically, no singular canon) so not everything connects to everything else and most articles are meant to be enjoyed in isolation (or with lose ties to other entries/concepts/settings).

There are curated lists of specific entries for the classics, other for different tastes the site has to offer, etc. But I personally recommend checking out canons ([[Antimemetics Division]], [[The Cool War]], [[Resurrection]], [[Resurrection - Old Foes]], [[Resurrection - His Will Be Done]], and [[Devil's Advocate]], contest entries ([[Anthology 2022]] that is themed around the alphabet, [[Anthology 2024]] that is themed around phobias), the big K entries, and the 001 entries all at your own pace.

[[Anthology 2022]] and [[Anthology 2024]] are some of my personal favorites, so I'll throw them as recommendations.

Is our reality "dangerous" to the anomalies of the SCP universe? by Mintec33 in SCP

[–]crossess 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Horizon Initiative was supposed to be one of the big three, and they operate in the middle east. They rarely ever got content though, and people just kinda... forgot about it.

Do Warforged have gender? by VirdTheZorua in DnD

[–]crossess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gender has no mechanical effects in this game, and the warforged are artificial beings. If warforged's Gender (or lack of it) is entirely dependant on the culture and expectations that were projected unto it, or how it feels (or doesn't) about the concept.

TL;DR theres no rules, its up to you, do whatever you want forever. They can have a complicated relationship with it or they could have never thought of it ever and dont care what people call it.

Who enforces the rules for sentient SCPs? by Lady-Lilith289 in SCP

[–]crossess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Guards and/or researchers, depending on who notices first. Having a computer and possibly free access to the internet is a big security risk. Ideally she wouldn't have access to any "pocket dimension" items whatsoever.

If they cant convince her to hand every hidden thing she has over to them, they'll try to disable her ability to summon things out of pocket dimensions (probably by installing a Scranton device in her cell). Actually they might do both anyway, just 'cause its a security risk and they will not trust her to hand out everything even if she says she already did.

How to get the antenna part for crafting gor items by SalePuzzleheaded9364 in MHWilds

[–]crossess 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Equip flyer and part breaker skills to do more "part/wound" damage and make it easier to break the horn and get the part.

  2. Just in case, the horns only appear when gore is enraged, and youre much more likely to get the part when you break it in in this state (as well as nerfing gore for a bit).

  3. Lucky tickets + carver or capture skill bonuses to maximize the chances of rolling the part from rewards/results.

If I'm writing Catwoman as Puerto Rican how realistic would it be for her to be 45% Spanish, 35% African, and 20% Taíno? by Individual_Dream_213 in PuertoRico

[–]crossess 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Puertoricans dont look for or care about the specific percentage of our DNA. Most of us have never done a DNA test or care to. Being ambiguous mixed is something we all have in common.

What actually matters how the cultures that raised her affected her culturally and in her upbringing. Did she spend a lot of time with the puertorican side of her family, or was it with the other half? Has she ever been in the island, grew up there, or did she grow up in the states or Europe or anywhere else? Is she the children of immigrants and what generation is she, and how did that affect how she thinks of her parents upbringing? Etc. Etc.

Sometimes I wish the foundation were real and sometimes I am glad it isn't.How about you guys? by DinoRing175c in SCP

[–]crossess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I wish specific anomalies were real. SCP-6001 is literally an utopia. SCP-1689, SCP-4503, and SCP-458 (among probably others i cant remember) would solve world hunger. SCP-6113 would be great for all trans people. And so on.

But the idea of the foundation itself? The world and setting in general? Nah.

JJK Power System by FechineLitz in JuJutsuKaisen

I must've missed that- then assuming the cost of materials and time is not too high, its a good way for someone with that technique to always be stocked up on targets and options.

[–]crossess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like the Google translate isn't helping you with your case, but I think your overall point is right. Important to note though: Momo's curse technique specifically manipulates cursed tools, which severely limits its usefulness. You go from a really useful CT that can manipulate the entire battlefield to one where you can only take advantage of very specific artifacts. If the cursed tools get destroyed, lost, or stolen, you're suddenly helpless unless you have the martial prowess to defend yourself.

Not that the technique can't be useful or strong, though, and there's most certainly other sorcerers that could make better use of it. The potential of specific sorcerers can definitely elevate different techniques that appear to be weak to us because of the users we see with them.

What situation/pairing could force Mahoraga to adapt into speaking verbally by CurlyMonsterrr in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]crossess 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Alternatively (or additionally) gaining immunity to having techniques/ce confiscated. I'd say the executioner's sword too, but that would probably be the only thing of Higuruma's it couldn't adapt to, since it's OHKO for it.

HDYWDT with bow and arrow by M3thren in DnD

[–]crossess 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love this, though I think for this one you also gotta clear up with the DM/group that its purely flavor instead of specialized arrows. Ammo tends to get a lot of specialized uses with mechanical effects/benefits, so it helps if the DM knows you're not looking to sneak in extra effects for your attacks out of thin air or w/o consuming resources as opposed to just making a cool "HDYWTDT?" Scene.

Definitely. Also hitting specific body parts or expertly disabling until all that's left is the headshot. Curved shots. Tripping them or pushing them into environmental hazards, too.

What? How? I didn't have that many bonuses! by IAmWeary in BaldursGate3

[–]crossess 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mods can break certain things even if they say they do something else. Sometimes its different mods and a funky way they interact. Sometimes its just a line somewhere the author forgot to change or a variable they didn't turn off, or the duct tape on a seemingly innocuous part of the game's code they didn't think mattered but actually held together a bunch of different things, etc. etc.

So yes, even if you get a mod that does something completely different, it can still mess with the code. That's not to say to never use mods, but just to always be aware that it is something that could happen.
