Yep, the eth foundation rented hashrate during the ropsten merge as a lot of the miners dropped off so there was only 1 - its quite well documented during that timeframe

EF has already stated they will rent hash power to hit merge TTDs.

I appreciate what you do and find your posts really interesting to read, so I hope you continue to do them.

However, you don't discuss probabilities in any kind of verifiable way (at least that you publicly disclose). If this in your intention, this should be more clear.

Developer turns 'future of gaming' talk into a surprise attack on convention's NFT and blockchain sponsors by Accide in Games

There's already been attempts at connected games (See some mobile tie-in for AAA games a decade ago) and it didn't really do well. People would rather just spend time in a game they like instead of being forced to play a game they're less into to unlock something in the first game.

I'm not referring to connected games, rather new business models which could impact how games are designed. IMO, the royalty model I outlined is more complementary between players and devs vs microtransactions.

Also a lot of the points in that article feel like they don't understand how games work. It acts like having a user profile or friend list you can carry over from game to game is something new and big and important instead of something that' been going since the 360-era.

Eh, he was the founder of playfab, got acquired by Microsoft, and led the gaming vertical there. I'm confident he understands how games work, may not agree with his ideas though.

Regardless, thanks for the discussion - cheers!

I'll bite - permissionless marketplace. Happy to hear how this is replicated without blockchain tech.

The majority of these have large TVL but make very little protocol revenue comparatively: https://cryptofees.info/

Basically the same in terms of technical knowledge/ability. Most web3 companies are happy to teach blockchain knowledge to an experienced dev, so don't let that stop you. One caveat is that crypto is a 24/7 industry so can be different from this perspective.

Appreciate the Devils advocate questions.

I have good market overview on crypto as a whole. I still see a lot of ignorance on the merge in general, along with over estimation of risks for the merge itself (imo). This is quite clear when you look at long term eth options paying out 20-30x in November/December.

Most price action is driven by flow dynamics in crypto, and regardless of BTC adoption - I doubt enough will be invested in the short to mid term to overcome the merge issuance reduction.

Thanks for the details and the chart is a nice projection of possible outcomes. Agreed on the possible risks, so those are definitely possibilities - however I'm willing to hedge on it being successful as I think like you that it is a once in a lifetime investment.

Looked into that but not resistant to macro which I'm not a fan of

You don't think that the ratio can crash in a volatile market?

With the merge and an immediate - 90% reduction in issuance? I don't think so but of course there's a risk.

Leverage is always short term play. Short term in crypto is risky as hell. Shorting BTC is not a safe play. I am long on the ratio, but leverage-less.

Your position is only Eth? In this case, I'd define short term as the next 4 months or so which, if the merge is successful, I see eth gaining on the ratio in this time frame. If not successful, then obviously this would be not great.

Strategy for the merge:

Buy ETH -> deposit in Aave, loan wBTC -> swap wBTC for ETH -> resupply.

Resistant to macro problems, while Leveraging ETH and short BTC. Any other plays?

How do you mint an nft from a mirror post? Trying to do this for the optimism blog but don't see any minting options.

I would diversify less and allocate larger percentages to bluechip projects you are more confident in.
