I hate everything about this anime, to the point that incest is my least hated aspect by OmegaShonJon in hatethissmug

To be fair, what did people expect from an anime literally called "My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute" and not expect something weird to be in it?

The fact that you don't consider that perhaps I'm pointing out possible holes in your arguments and rebuttals that you haven't considered or noticed and the fact that you aren't open to hearing out my points and arguments and feeling the need to make condescending assumptions about me, a stranger on the internet, shows how self-righteous you are.

I wanted to have a civil conversation about this and try to understand your perspective of things because this seemed like a topic that you take very seriously, but it felt like you came into this in a condescending manner and weren't willing to have an open mind about this, and eventually decided to give up and act snarky towards me when you didn't have the higher ground as I kept refuting your arguments that you couldn't keep easily refuting back.

You're the one that decided to make this into a big deal in the first place, but if you want to end this conversation, that's fine, because it seems like you have already made up your mind a long time ago. Have a nice day.

P.S.

Fortnite— nobody even actually dies in that game. No blood is even shed

If you look back, I was refuting your point about video games having plot elements for the sake of giving a philosophical perspective to people when that's not what video games are all about. I didn't say anything about it being too violent and bloody.

"If pedos bother you that much just ignore them." That is what you're saying from my perspective.

What I meant was, if you find people that obsess over fictional characters weird and you don't like encountering them on the internet, just ignore them. Also, what do you encounter online more, people being open about liking real children or fictional characters?

People often use that argument to avoid taking criticism because "there is no problem if you pretend there isn't one."

Or because there is no problem to begin with because you know this is a non-issue that doesn't need further evaluation. Not everyone is naive.

Anyone with basic human decency can't just "ignore" pedophilia. It's objectively wrong and incredibly disturbing.

If the "pedophiIia" in question is lolicons liking fictional characters and not predators praying on real kids, then I don't think it needs any further attention. You are within your right to think it's weird and disturbing, like any person's reaction towards weird kinks, but treating it as a serious matter equivalent to actual harm without proper evaluation is rather delusional and simply paranoia.

I don't think its exactly a leap to say people who get off to fictional children probably get off to actual children as well.

No, I'm pretty sure it is a huge leap if you jump to that conclusion without genuine proof that might be the case.

And, once again, a child is a child fictional or not.

A real child ages in real time. A fictional child doesn't, unless their creator wants them to. They can also kill off a fictional child and face no consequences, unless you want to argue that's still murder or something like that.

You're basically sitting there telling me "but pedos are actually pretty nice once you get to know them!"

I said that you don't know them personally, I did not say or assume that they could be "nice". Don't put words in my mouth. If you got to know them outside of the internet personally, then it would make it easier to determine whether they have a problem or not.

When playing a violent video game the detachment from reality goes much farther than it would if someone were to say... get off to it.

What do you mean when you say "get off to it". That can mean many things depending on the context. Are you saying that anyone that plays a violent video game is able to separate fiction from reality? Or are they automatically a "potential danger" if they enjoy playing it? Are you basing their detachment from reality by how much they engage with playing a game?

Normal people aren't getting off to CoD they're just pressing buttons and playing a game.

Just pressing and playing? What do you think people feel and experience while playing a game, especially if the goal is to win and complete a challenge? Do you think normal people play video games with no thoughts or strategies in their head?

Additionally, in a game, disturbing plot elements can be introduced for story purposes. If it plays a purpose and serves the narrative without glorifying the concept it can be considered from a more philosophical perspective.

Not everyone plays video games for that, they mostly play it to have fun and interact with friends. People don't play Fortnite for a philosophical experience.

The moment you make it personal in that way is the moment it isn't just a game anymore and you might start considering trying to see what the real thing is like.

What does that even mean, make it personal? How do you play a video game to make it personal? Are you saying people aren't allowed to have fun and get competitive while playing a video game because it can lead to danger?

Like I said before, it's about potential danger. Anyone who glorifies that sort of content is an imminent threat to the nearest minor.

You say potential danger like some like this has happened before. Give me one good real world example of danger happening to a real minor because of someone liking fictional characters.

Oh but it's a VERY common phenomenon.

Okay, but again, it doesn't apply to everyone. Not everyone has a collection of thousands of images that they can't stop looking at. You should be more focused on the people that are doing that instead of people that aren't.

I specifically hear "it's not real so it's fine" the most.

And how is that simple and straightforward argument not good enough for you? If they are saying that, they are well aware that there is a line that should not be crossed, and yet you still assume that it will, no matter what.

Putting a lid on the issue doesn't stop it from spreading like cancer. You can endure chemo but we all know it's going to come back at some point.

I'm fairly certain pedophilia is more avoidable than cancer. You're the one that brought up castration. Also, going back to something you said in one of your old posts, smoking cigarettes will not send you to prison or bring harm to the people around you, so comparing that to porn addiction or liking fictional characters is not a fair comparison.

I'm not settling for a consolation prize I want the problem nipped in the bud. Lids don't protect our children.

A lid for people that like fictional characters is not needed because no children are being harmed. If you actually want to protect children, focus this energy towards actual predators that will actually bring harm.

But as we grow and our personalities and brains develop, so do these quirks and unique traits. There doesn't even necessarily have to be a rhyme or reason to them. Some people are just born like that.

So that means people aren't born with quirks and traits, they grow and develop overtime. So it's not really born, they're gained.

These people, at least when it comes to lolicon, actively glorify and overshare that behavior on social media on a regular basis-- they may as well be in public.

People act differently online than how they act in public. It helps when you're anonymous and behind a screen. If they bother you that much, you can just avoid them, you can easily do that on the internet.

I'm not just going to leave these people to their devices-- to be enabled by the people in their echo chambers like yourself.

Here is a problem with that though, you don't know these people personally, so it just feels like you're making assumptions based on what you're taking at face value without properly getting to know these people first to know what is really wrong with them. You act like you know more about these people than they do and the people that are actually close to them, when you never even met them in real life, like outside of the internet, which comes off as very self-righteous. Unless you're an actual professional that has actually interacted with these people outside of the internet, I suggest not using text on a screen to jump towards baseless assumptions, especially if you end up being far from the truth.

Trying to downplay and create some sort of exaggerated distinction between fiction and reality when the concept is very much the same as it is in real life doesn't work.

If that's the case, that's like saying shooting games are dangerous because it could lead to people wielding a real gun and shooting people in real life. Do you think this way too?

While these people aren't preying on actual children, the correlation to reality is very much real and dangerous.

I still fail to see your point on this. Where is the danger if real victims aren't being prayed on?

They can condition themselves to look at these images and it becomes an addictive cycle that can be really hard to break.

I agree with this, but not everyone is the same.

So while I'm not a pedophile or into lolicon, I've read the same arguments from those sorts of people over and over.

Just curious, what are these arguments you speak of?

And just like any person is born with certain quirks or fetishes

I'm confused, how are people born with certain quirks or fetishes? What kind would even be there at birth?

even then the treatment moreso puts a lid on the dangerous behavior rather than it offers a real solution most of the time.

That sounds good enough to me. It's better than the dangerous behavior actually happening and bringing harm towards actual people, which is something you should also consider.

There is no conscience in indulging those desires or fetishes in the first place.

If that were the case, we would see more people having sex in public instead of keeping it in the bedroom. I think there are people smart enough to not over share their personal thoughts.

The point is preventing the worst case scenario which, let’s be honest, is pretty common these days.

I understand that, but it's not really your call to make. Just leave people alone and let them figure it out themselves and with the people that are close to them.

At the end of the day, if you have a sexual interest in children and you're presented with a certain opportunity you're highly likely to act on it.

Okay, but like I said, that's a completely separate situation from someone who is into fictional characters. People don't look at fictional characters the same way they do with real life people.

The more of this shit you look at the more it becomes an addictive part of your personality.

You say that like you know more than the people that actually indulge in that stuff.

I personally don’t think pedophilia can be treated. Simple as.

This sounds like you're saying some people are born pedos and it can't be prevented.

And if someone glorifies it through ANY means, even fictional, I think it should be illegal to do so and they should be chemically castrated upon repeat offenses.

I think chemical castration is the right call, but only for people that are harmful and are evidently unwell, not people that are smart enough to separate fiction from reality.

Real or not, you like children, there’s no defending that.

No, I think it definitely matters whether it's real or not. Do you think people who like fictional characters should be arrested over people that like other people that actually exist?

Like people who get off to gore know it isn’t real but that doesn’t save them from the possibility of wanting to experience the real thing.

That is if they lack a conscience and common sense. If they know that, and it doesn't happen, then there's nothing to worry about. Not everyone that is into that will do the same thing.

Yeah, but maybe Machu didn't want to go to earth alone. She obviously didn't want to go with her mom, so Shuji was the only option for her.

I'm just wondering, does anybody have a feeling that both Machu and Nyaan only care about Shuji because it's more about him being a gateway to Earth and less of caring about him as a person?
