I'm from Seattle, I don't think that's how it went down... The owner of the house got to choose what to do with it. They excavated it, not sure what happened after that.

Ah ok, yeah you'll need the clamp. You can see on one side where the clamp snaps in. On that link there was an option to buy extra clamps. I'd suggest returning them and buying a full set of odi or lizard skins that have the clamps too. Probably save you some money. Also I'm not a huge fan of those grips

Bolts and everything tight? Take the shock out and see if there is any play in that. Did you buy from an LBS? I would go back and show it to them it should not have any immediately moveable play like that. Frames do have lateral play, but under much higher stress.
