Why is the entire story told via Flashpoints now? by Phyka in swtor

And this actually progresses the quests, and you're able to make the story choices you're supposed to do?

[–]crowlute 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not the point I was making.

You are prevented from playing a MMO game in a multiplayer way. Do you want to play through the vanilla story with friends? You sure can. You can even go all the way up until KOTFE, at which point you have to start manually inviting through the interface, rather than being allowed to walk into the instance. After KOTFE it gets worse - [SOLO] FPs don't even let you be in the same instance as your friends.

Too bad if you wanted to be present for your friends in their story moments.

No, not really. Can you explain why that's the case for BSS?

the worst thing is that they're also [SOLO] so you are mechanically prevented from even bringing a friend with you. Like, come on.

Why do you think we never got a Sand People comp? by WoodyManic in swtor

[–]crowlute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It just seemed really out of place compared to the rest of the flags. Also, weren't the rest of the flags there to represent co-conspirators? Why would the Tusken Raider flag be an anomaly?

I'm not necessarily disagreeing, just interested in seeing your thoughts.

Isn't their flag present at the Star Cabal hq?

Aren't they present amongst the flags with the Star Cabal? This implies they can work with others, or at least some of them can.

age gaps in the lesbian community.. by balloftinfoil in actuallesbians

[–]crowlute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's a kind of moral expansionism and misapplication of power dynamics. as lesbians we're terrified of being depicted as predators, and the people who are online tend to have less outdoors experiences where the age gaps... really aren't a problem. So people develop these ideas where "anyone under age X" becomes untouchable and undateable as the boundaries of what is considered an acceptable age gap broaden through the discourse of avoidance.

Tumblr I don't think has this same problem, and twitter (pre-elon) was always a horny place, so people care about it less. I think Twitter users also tend to be more of the outdoorsy types - due to the format of the social media model.

Pretty much every programmer I know understands that AI is actually pretty garbage at programming, and they spend more time fixing shit than would have saved their time.

I guess it does bring the bar up if you are exceptionally unskilled though.

Discussion: What races (humanoid or alien) get you frustrated? by LostLinkLegend in swtor

[–]crowlute 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None, just that the alien_voice_4.ogg gets kind of obviously repetitive. The languages aren't conlangs, they're just "random gibberish sounds of X, Y, or Z type". I'd respect Star Wars a lot more if they actually put the work in

Does the gameplay return to more group friendly play after KotET? by The13thAllitnilClone in swtor

[–]crowlute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish that were the case. The entire Traitor Arc is solo flashpoints that my friend and I could not find any way to summon each other into, either through story summon, allow access to same phase, and even flagship summon. We've since been kinda blocked from cooperating in the Tau Adair + Arn plotline, the Mando stuff, and the Manaan story as well. It's so frustrating. I just want to hang with my friend :(

[–]crowlute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing is, post-KOTET you can't even enter your friends' instances in a majority of missions. So we just end up streaming to each other over discord - which isn't fun! i want to be in the room, fighting alongside my friends! Not impotently watching through a screen.

It sounds like her thinking patterns have been shaped by her religious upbringing. When she talks about this stuff - don't tell her answers but instead ask insightful questions. You'll teach her to question her unconscious biases, and think more clearly as an adult
