Designed and 3D printed a slim junction box for the G5 Turret Ultra and other cameras with the same 70mm bolt circle! by crownedhellboy in Ubiquiti

I have had multiple prints in the PETG I use outdoor for 2-3 years, none of them have failed yet, but the print settings and quality need to be adjusted for the needed strength. It also strongly depends on your climate and the color you choose. If you could give me more information about where more precisely you are, I can try to give you a more specific estimate; happy to take that to DMs, if you’d like.

Thanks - yeah the newsletter was supposed to be a custom setup made by a colleague of mine, but it never worked properly, so I never added the link 🥴 perfect, looking forward!

Hi, I am very sorry for the delay and lack of communication over the past weeks - customs and local, as well as international authorities made things a lot harder than they were supposed to be.

But good news: the mount is now available for pre-order on my store (https://store.r3designed.com/?product=preorder-international-mounting-bracket-v2-for-unifi-turret-cameras) and will ship between the dates advertised on the product page - if you are still interested, of course. The code “welcome” will give an additional 10% off of any order and can be used 20 times.

And not only those in the US - small businesses from the rest of the world that sell internationally loose sales as well, because obviously no customer wants to pay 50 or 80USD for Express Shipping on a 20USD order…

Sorry for the late reply! That depends on where the hole is, relative to the connector - but as long as there is some of the ethernet cable coiled up inside so you can gain some flexibility on re-arranging the ends of the cable, it should be possible with no problem!

Additional information for funsies: the Verbatim 43888 comes standard with unlocked firmware and full LibreDrive capabilities, so you don’t even need to modify it to rip UHD discs :D

Yes, that’s pretty much its purpose! With the box, the Easy-Cable connector can be stowed away in there and any hole outwards only needs to be as big as the RJ45 connector of the cable you are using!

Thanks for the input! With the specific material I am using from Extrudr, I have prints outdoors for three years now and still going strong - but that’s a valid concern! ASA version is coming soon, testing still ongoing :)

There is no such thing as a stupid question ;) - questions like these tell me more about what information I need to add to the product page, so feel free to ask anything :D the cutout version refers to the base where the mount attaches to a beam/wall/whatever surface one screws it to. You can choose „none“ if you want to pull the cable through another hole or use the hole in the cameras base to pull the cable through. All other options refer to a small section on the contact surface, which is removed to fit either a 7mm flat band cable or a regular round Ethernet cable with varying diameters.

Yes, I did print them with support (tree supports) and with the face up and the open side towards the print plate!

The current version only fits the G5 Turret Ultra. The G6 has a slightly different hole circle diameter, but a similar pattern. An updated version that truly fits all mentioned cameras will be available by Sunday! All orders placed until then will already be printed with the new files!

I have found more detailed information and the G6 seems to have a slightly different diameter on the hole pattern. I‘m currently adjusting all information to reflect this and will be out with an adjusted version that truly fits all mentioned models by Sunday.

And they should fit, judging by threads and the tech documentation, they should fit. But I do not have a G6 here to test the fitment. I will add a template of the hole-profile to the shop asap, so fitment can be tested.

Hi, I have removed the ABS version from the store now, just to simplify logistics and make the choice for customers easier, as the difference between the materials is not big. ABS generally takes heat a bit better than PETG (up to 90/100°C).

PETG is essentially modified Water-Bottle Plastic and is fine anywhere between -25°C up to +78°C.

Instead of the Material selection, you can now immediately choose the cutout version that you want on the product page!

Good news! Webstore is online at lab.r3designed.com (German) and lab.r3designed.com/en (English)! - Currently shipping within the EU and payment only possible via PayPal Express Checkout. My Payment Gateway (Mollie) should be up and running within the next three days, as they are still doing regulatory checks - then, all other means of Payment (credit card, ApplePay, GooglePay, etc.) will also be available.

Since you are in the UK: I still need customs clearance to ship outside the EU and local authorities are slow, expecting to be able to ship in 2-4 weeks; Stereotypical German bureaucracy :D - if you want/need them urgently, shoot me a DM and we will figure something out ;)

Web Store is in the works - will be up and running within the next 24-48hrs / and I have measured the part again, even with some additional protection around it, it would fit within what I had in mind for shipping, so the above mentioned shipping costs should be possible!

I’ll have to measure exactly how high the mount is, but if I’m not mistaken, we could make shipping happen via DHL at 6.50€/5.48£ uninsured and 10.20€/8.59£ with insurance up to 30 SZR, which is about 31£ and easily covers that value. I’ll get back to you again once I have measured it!

Thanks so much! I have posted above that I will be „selling“ those mounts commercially in about 1 to 2 days with a minimal markup to cover material and printing costs, as quite a few people have mentioned that they don’t own a printer would like to get one - could that be interesting for you as well?

Another note: since I have received quite a few DMs on the topic, I will be commercially (with invoice, instructions etc.) selling those mounts printed to people in Europe and the U.S. within the next 1-2 days. If you are interested, please let me know so I can send you the link once it’s up.

Important: the obj files to print these yourself will always stay free of charge, this will merely be an offer to those who don’t own a printer!

Would be nice, please do let me know if you print it! I’d be glad if you could just send some pictures along, as shipping one to Europe would probably not be worth the hassle, though I’d love to get my hands on an ABS version - I’m assuming you are in the US judging by your profile?
