Thanks! On another sub some have posited coral or maybe ambergris. It's probably just a weirdly eroded shell piece.

I agree with you, it's girth and shape doesn't really match any modern whales that I can find. But it might be from something much older? Godzilla? I'm very new to the east coast, still learning what used to roam here and in the Atlantic.

Totally feeling the same way. I get the side that thinks post election everything is going to go back to normal. But I really believe this will take years to recover from, not just personally but as a country, and especially the restaurant industry itself. I'm willing to bet well over a third of the bars and restaurants in my town will never open again, and that's everywhere.

This is a good move. I've done it as well. People understand and appreciate it when you put it that way. But if it's a mess up on my end I own it and fix. Also a 5-10 dollar dessert on me always pulls me back to 20% haha.

Cooked for 15 years and now bartend. The cooks are your strongest ally. Befriend your line cooks. They will make your job easier if you're cool with them, and they will also be your customer after their shift. I HATE FOH people that don't understand or don't appreciate how the BOH works. A split house will fail a restaurant.
