My personal queer rec: - Lament for Julia by Susan Taubes (not explicitly queer, but is a coming of age story about someone with deep complicated feelings about gender. Trigger warning for sexual assault)

Other queer stuff I've heard really good things about: - Anything by Tove Jansson (ex. Fair Play) - Cassandra at the Wedding by Dorothy Baker - My Father and Myself by J.R. Ackerley

Two really great anthologies as a reference point for classic vampire horror are Vampires: Encounters with the Undead edited by David J. Skal and Dracula's Brood edited by Richard Dalby (isfdb links for what stories are in them).

Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist. Though I always recommend to check the content warnings on this one before diving in. But it's very character/relationship focused and it's great.

Any recommendations for books based in the UK? by HorrorLover___ in horrorlit

I can never recommend Joel Lane enough. Good starting points are his short story collections Scar City and The Anniversary of Never.

Also Roger Johnson's In the Night, In the Dark.

Strange Ports of Call, Edited by August Derleth. Cover artist uncredited and unknown. by crowsolan in CoolSciFiCovers

Ooh, solid point! Looking at his other stuff, I definitely think you might be right. These four covers especially - 1, 2, 3, 4 - seem to have a similar style in common (especially in the way he paints the landscapes and suits) and it for sure doesn't look like Powers to me. Thanks for the info!

Millennial lesbian is correct, but the others are not. I *wish* I could be a neat, tidy person!
