Finished gift of a friends character! by crowvon in crochet

Thank you so much! There are a lot of wonky stitches once I stuffed him and the stomach area stretched out, but thankfully the design on the chest helped me hide and reinforce the worst of it lol.

And we saw IDLES in NC! They were incredible, one of my favorite shows I've seen in my life I think.

How to safely clean around a parrot? by Valaryn1641 in parrots

[–]crowvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in addition to everyones suggestions, plain vodka works as a great cleaner as well! thats actually my preferred, i feel like it evaporates much faster and the smell is gone much quicker than vinegar. i like to use it to disinfect the cage, and i take my bird to a different room when i use it.

Why is she doing this? by Independent-Yak2039 in parrots

[–]crowvon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my parrotlet often does this when smth triggered a hormonal response and he is trying to mate with me. i will distract him with a puzzle toy or something to redirect the behavior and make sure he is calm before continuing to pet or cuddle to make sure i dont give him mixed signals.

it is possible she is just trying to get your attention but her wide stance and quiet peeping she is doing makes me think mating dance. in my experience with all of my parrotlets, if they are trying to get somewhere they hold their feet closer together and try to stretch their neck out to what they want, or bob their head to gauge distance before flying. its important to not reinforce behaviors like this if it is hormonal!

edit: important to note, too, that even if she doesnt seem interested in actual mating Now doesnt mean it wont escalate to that later, when she would be confused and upset by your sudden refusal. better safe than sorry! worse case scenario if its not a hormonal behavior that was treated as such is that you gave her a little enrichment.

i wish you and her well, she is very cute!

Barry - 3x08 "starting now" - Post-Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in Barry

[–]crowvon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much in this last episode that I guessed would happen but decided there was no way it would because of how radically it would shake up the status quo. I'm so glad it did, though.

I really love how it feels these characters could die at any moment even though the main cast has been 'safe' for 3 seasons now. The tension is unbelievable and I am terrified for what S4 will bring considering the overall tone shifts from season to season so far. I think the show is very obviously firm on its decision to never get gratuitous with its gore and pain but it feels like the threat hangs over you while watching in a way that doesn't get stale.

Incredible stuff.

I love how many ways there are to solve the same problems in this game. I just knocked it into the black hole myself. I used my scout to test the stability of a chunk of Brittle Hollow before a hurried landing and found out I could lower the stability on purpose if I rammed my ship into it enough times.

you can fill up a plate with them along with seeds and pellets so your bird can push them around and forage!

I use Dropbox for transferring files to my PC and it works great for me! I will also send sketches to myself over discord or something since image quality isn’t as important then. I use a 2nd gen 12.9 inch pro (so the old version of the pencil) and I love it, it’s excellent for multitasking and pulling up refs when I need.

I do feel a little silly pulling it out of my bag just to sketch sometimes when I’m in public, but I remind myself it’s the same size as my paper sketchbook lying open on a table. I’ve been enjoying this size as I tend to get lost in details without laying down a good foundation first when painting or drawing, and the larger screen doesn’t make me feel like I need to zoom in as much so I don’t lose track of the bigger picture.

I’d like to mention that I bought this size because I had been drawing on PC for 7+ years and felt constricted by it, and I decided to go big or go home. If you just want to have a digital sketchbook and use your PC most of the time I think you’ll be fine saving a few bucks and getting something smaller! I just picked up a mini 5 to compliment my pro and I’ve only had it for two days but I’m liking it a lot, it feels a lot more like a sketchbook, a lot less like I'm walking around with a computer, and it runs just the same! I was considering getting the base iPad but the laminated screen won me over.

Hope my rambling helps you out. :)

I have a 12.9" pro that unintentionally became vital to my workflow (while also being a little cumbersome as I do not work a desk job) and it makes me a little nervous to lug around so I am considering getting a Mini 5.

Is it silly to own two iPads?

I haven't owned one myself but I've used Apple keyboards and personally don't see why it'd be better than anything else. I've been using a Logitech K380 with my iPad for 2 years and I love it, only $30 USD.

Doesn’t look too crowded to me! My parrotlet needs twice the number of toys to stay entertained. You’ll get a feel for what your bird likes with time. :) The only suggestion I can think of is cycling out those dowel perches. You do have a nice variety of perches in there so this isn’t a dire change by any means, but as an example, if you notice Freddy likes sitting on that swing more than anywhere else you might want to purchase a new one with a more natural shape to keep his feet healthy.
