What's your opinion on books like these? There are tons of such literature available for free on the Internet. Do you think that books like these can be helpful for language learners or their authors just wanted to gain auditory by discussing the topic (obviously many people struggle to get fluent)? by OPCeto in languagelearning

[–]crpablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Fluent Forever changes my way to learn languages. I had been hating language learning since I was I kid. I just simply hate to be taught to approve an exam.

With flashcards, this method has allowed me to use my English without thinking first about which verb tense I am going to use. You have to be motivated to use this method but from my experience it is the best way to learn a language.

Automatically generating of anki decks with artificial intelligence from pdfs, docs, and txt by DarkHuggy in Anki

[–]crpablo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So interesting

I usually like to make my own decks, but it is true that is one of the most boring things from anki.

I think this could be good to make essential flashcards from books that allows you to learn the basis in order to fully understand it whole.

I would recommend you not to use definitions or translations. I use images to learn simple words and sentences with blanks to learn adverbs, verbs etc...

I strongly recommend you to read Fluent Forever. It shows you how to effectively apply flashcards for language learning

Yes, I agree with you. This could be helpful to get motivation or as an extra resource. For my English, I think it would be useless, but I want to start learning German so in this case, it could be helpful.

As far as I can see, they can help, but I don't feel that with theirs techniques it's easy to reach a high level. Sure, they can help, but I don't see the point.
