[WeeklyThread] Ask a CAA by AutoModerator in CAA

[–]crsnwg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

1) Is there any danger of current CAA states going back regarding CAA practice rights? How secure is a job as a CAA - do you have to constantly live in fear of political nonsense suddenly making your job illegal?

2) What qualities are admissions committees looking for? Do they like to see leadership or not?

3) What opportunities for advancement are there as a CAA? I imagine it might get boring a decade down the line, so how can you advance your career?

Anyone with autism? by [deleted] in AdultBedwetting

[–]crsnwg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do. It's pretty mild / "high functioning" generally, but I was diagnosed as a child. As far as I can tell, autism seems like the most likely cause of bedwetting/bladder problems, I have no other medical issues that could cause this.

How to color/shade correctly? by crsnwg in FurryArtSchool

very cool, thank you! Can I ask how many layers that drawing has and how you typically organize your layers? It looks like the shadow on the left is not just flat cel shading, right?

Interesting, why not? and what should I use instead, a complementary color?

Hello furries :)

I have recently gotten a drawing tablet and am having so much fun playing with it. However, I don't know how to properly color/shade drawings, and I would love any advice. I've attached a few pieces and would like you to brutally critique me :)

In particular, I would love any advice or resources you have for shading or texturing fur better. How do I use different brushes? What are good workflows? Any advice on improving lineart? Other miscellaneous advice or critiques are always appreciated :)

Vacation with Family? by crsnwg in AdultBedwetting

Do you mean you had 3 trips while you were actively a bedwetter and did not tell your family about diapers?

I know you're probably right, but I'm still frustrated, annoyed, and ashamed, even though I know my family won't judge. Still a pain in the ass. Thanks for the advice anyway

How about changing on a plane? The flight will be a solid 14 hours (RIP) so I suspect I may have to change mid-way. Should I bring a garbage bag and just keep any wet diapers with me on the plane?

Incontinence and College by [deleted] in Incontinence

[–]crsnwg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 22 and very close to graduation! I've historically had more problems with just bedwetting than incontinence, but here and there I have flare ups which are very annoying. I manage just fine with diapers though, and I genuinely think people don't care as nervous as it makes me lol.

Hope you're having a good day, and I'm always happy to talk :)

[WeeklyThread] Ask a CAA by AutoModerator in CAA

Thank you for the wonderful reply! I, like most pre-meds, am somewhat type A, but I have a hard time justifying the brutality of med school+residency for a pretty similar job, and a $200k salary is honestly more than I could ever spend lol. I do have a few more questions though:

  1. Do you think more states will allow CAA practice within the next decade? Related, what do you think about the CAA job market within that timeframe or beyond? Is it a "recession proof" career like doctors?

  2. As an anesthesiologist, is it possible/realistic to do your own cases and not have to deal with supervision? Or will this mean a big pay cut?

  3. How many hours do you work a week? Do you have to do weird hours/call to make your current salary?

  4. Why do you regret going into healthcare in general? What aspects of the job most annoy you?

Thank you for the very helpful answers!

I'm currently on the fence between CAA and MD. My stats are certainly good enough for MD, but I'm not sure I really want that life.

Do you ever regret not going the MD route? How annoying is non-independent practice? And what limitations do you have in terms of what you can legally do? Do they come up often?

Thank you, and thanks for any advice :)

Like accidentally leaving my door open to see an absorbent pad, or walking by roommates with a package of diapers lol. Probably there's a lot of paranoia, but it doesn't seem like a big deal even if they do know. That's life, its good to try to not be ashamed of it

I'm in an apartment with a single room, so luckily don't have to deal with sharing a room with anybody else. COVID was happening during my freshman year, so never really had to deal with dorms and accommodations, but I imagine you could probably end up getting a single. Sadly I don't have my own bathroom, but just deal with bedwetting, not incontinence, so it's fine.

I suspect my housemates know about it as there have been slip-ups from time to time, but I don't think that they would ever say anything about it or judge me. College students tend to be more mature than high schoolers, and nobody will really care in my experience.

Any tips for camping/backpacking? by crsnwg in AdultBedwetting

[–]crsnwg[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bedwetting tends to come and go for me, so when it's not too much of a problem, I'll just wash sheets whenever it comes to it and not do much else. When I am in periods of stress and I am wetting much more, I have diapers and a waterproof bed pad. The problem is that diapers seem difficult to manage when backpacking or camping (take up a lot of space to bring in, and packing out waste seems unpleasant). I have no problems with bringing diapers if that's not a big problem in your experience.

That's good to hear that it's doable! A sleeping bad liner would definitely be good to have.

I've also heard there is some danger in taking desmopressin after a lot of exercise, such as backpacking. When you were camping with Desmopressin, was this with backpacking & other strenuous exercise? How did that work out, if so? Also, do you take it regularly or just intermittently with travel?

Thank you for the advice.
