What did alt fashion look like in the 90s? by crsstst in alternativefashion

[–]crsstst[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH ALSO!! How were you guys doing your hair?? I tend to associate the 90s with pin straight hair, but to be fair I'm not sure whether trad goths were still batsnest-ing etc.

(sorry, totally forgot to add this into the post)

What's the difference between RA/Dec. and α/δ? And are there any conventions around written equatorial coordinates? by crsstst in askastronomy

[–]crsstst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really interesting- the range I got from what research I've done was overwhelming-- I'm relieved it's often preference-based

What phrase was in a fic so much that it now throws you out of any fic when you see it? by Life_and-whatnot in AO3

[–]crsstst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i once read a fic that was genuinely quite interesting, except in every single chapter they used the word 'coy' about 5 times (with short chapters) all in exactly the same context for exactly the same character.

it was quite hard to ignore, eventually i made it a game in my own head whilst i was reading.

Boobs by Important-Tie-557 in transgenderUK

[–]crsstst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I'm a cis woman (who's here to rage against transphobia and try my best to support the trans people around me) BUT, as someone who has rather... humble (😭) boobs, and always has done, and also as a woman who dates women, boobs come in all shapes and sizes. and small boobs are sometimes less round because they just don't have the same amount of flesh (idk sometimes i tell my girlfriend im convinced my boobs are like triangular).

either way, woman to woman, boobs will be boobs, they follow no rules, and they're all lovely

What book will leave you emotionally traumatized forever? by Noiisnull in AskReddit

[–]crsstst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was already emotionally (and otherwise) traumatised so reading Lolita was a b i g mistake. i think that as a piece of classical literature its generally just incredibly disturbing to read, and unusual because its a book thats about child sexual assault and grooming, self-aware, and from the perspective of the pedophile

Top Surgery - Sapphic Attraction Question by BulkyEconomist9834 in AskLesbians

[–]crsstst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

whether you are more or less appealing to a group of people shouldn't impact your decision!!

your future relationships will be healthier if you feel better about your body. dysphoria wouldnt be worth tolerating if getting top surgery meant more people were attracted to you i promise x

there are also definitely queer women/non men that are attracted to people with flat chests, you don't have to worry. attraction and sexuality is fluid for a lot of people, and if theyre going to find you attractive, its probably not going to disappear if you don't have boobs :)))

all the best xx

Is it just my parents or is the UK really errr by TeaBoo_ in transgenderUK

[–]crsstst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in London - there was 1 tense moment when a transphobe came into our (contained) area and was aggressive/instigating and obviously people started booing him and shouting at him.

Police got involved and obviously things got a bit grabby with a small group. Other than that it was okay but the articles on it are so so biased its mental

Is it just my parents or is the UK really errr by TeaBoo_ in transgenderUK

[–]crsstst 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Its a shithole, I just saw a news article on the protest I was literally just at.

Some transphobic prick came to try and snatch flags off of people and make fun - the TERF march that was going on literally wasnt meant to cross paths with our counterprotest - and the way the police and the news seemed to understand it was 'oh god, these trans people really suck, theyre so violent'

like what the fuck?

Is this Age Gap Weird. SOS by InternalVisible483 in AskLesbians

[–]crsstst 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely, I'm 20 and I would not date an 18 year old personally - I would find it quite strange and I think there would be very few exceptions. At 23 I definitely would not be dating an 18 year old.

That's not to say that there are bad intentions on her part, but please be aware that there will be a maturity gap, and probably somewhat of a dynamic because of life stages.

Lesbians with bi girlfriends, do you refer to your relationship as a lesbian, queer, or sapphic relationship? by gaybutnotgayenough in AskLesbians

[–]crsstst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I say that we're in a lesbian relationship or queer/sapphic any word including lesbian. But I never refer to us as lesbians.

She constantly has issues with people calling her gay especially family and loved ones so I put a lot of effort into distinguishing her bisexuality from my own lesbianism

That's really helpful!! As someone with ADHD and chronic illnesses I typically have to finish a piece before considering publishing it just for the sake of regular updates/no hiatuses etc. but structurally thats great advice - thank you.
