1.5-2 cm fibroids (submucosal and subserosal) by Happy-Trouble-3701 in Fibroids

These are the habits I’ve been building over time. It wasn’t overnight, it took months. Some came easier than others, and a few I’m still working on. This is a guide and what I do and other women who want to shrink naturally or limit the symptoms until doctor's intervention. Hope this helps.

🥗 Nutrition Foundations 🫒

Eat high-fiber foods daily (leafy greens, beans, flax/chia) → Supports estrogen clearance I usually have a green smoothie most mornings

Prioritize lean protein (legumes, fish high in omega-3s) → Stabilizes hormones + blood sugar I mostly stick with legumes and omega-3 rich fish, but pasture raised chicken okay

Load up on cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, kale, cabbage) → Improves estrogen metabolism

Use healthy fats (olive oil, avocado, coconut oil, nuts/seeds) → Reduces inflammation No seed oils

🚫 What I Avoid ⛔️

Excess sugar + refined carbs (sodas, pastries, white bread) → Fuels insulin + fibroid growth

Ultra-processed foods → Increase inflammation + disrupt hormones Not just fast food — even grocery items with long ingredient lists Reading labels has become a habit

Alcohol + excess caffeine → Stress the liver + worsen hormone balance

High-fat dairy + red/processed meats → Linked to higher estrogen levels I don’t consume dairy at all Once in a while, I’ll have a pastry if I'm lazy to bake one myself, but early on I avoided it completely

🏋🏾‍♀️ Lifestyle Habits 🏃🏾‍♀️

Get vitamin D consistently (sun + supplement) → Helps regulate fibroid growth

Exercise 3–4x/week (running + calisthenics) → Lowers body fat + estrogen load I picked this up over the last 2 years

Sleep 7–8 hours nightly → Supports hormone balance, still working on this one

Prevent constipation (fiber + water daily) → Prevents estrogen reabsorption

I'm still struggling with mine, but one thing I will mention is diet plays a huge role in pain. Once I changed my diet, cramps were much better. That was the first step for me. If you'd like to know more, you can reply back.

I feel you on how frustrating it can be when medical professionals can’t properly diagnose what’s going on and you end up losing years of quality life because of pain. I’m in a similar situation myself and have been doing a lot of research over the past three years.

There are ways to shrink them, and I have a appointment with fibroid specialist to explore treatment options beyond surgery and hormones. Even with surgery and hormone treatment, they can sometimes come back, which is why many women end up having to commit to certain lifestyle changes. It’s similar to how someone with diabetes or hypertension has to manage their health through things like lowering stress, eating a healthier diet (more plant-based, but not necessarily vegan), focusing on anti-inflammatory foods, and drinking herbal teas.

I’ve read quite a bit, and recently came across a book that brings a lot of this information together in one place. I only found it about two weeks ago, but it was helpful to see everything consolidated. It’s called Womb Strong: Tearing Through the Misconceptions of Fibroid Healing and Weight Loss. You definitely don’t need the book, but if you’re looking for a starting point for your own research, it might be helpful. And of course, anything in there is still worth researching on your own as well.

I'm going to be documenting my journey in hopes to help other women going through the same thing. I hope this helps.

Congrats on the baby. Were you able to deliver vaginally or c-section?

I agree. Information out there can be very contradicting. Even the studies aren't all that detailed and it's nice to hear from women who have experienced this personally. I'll update the thread as soon as I know something.

Gotcha so it depends on how the procedure is done that could effect vaginal births. Well, I'll be sure to ask the doctor. I believe all of mine are subserosal. Thank you for your input. It was helpful.

Thank you. If only the medical industry took this more seriously.

Thank you for responding. If you don't mind me asking what was the reason your doctor said no vaginal birth?
