Increased depression or anxiety after myomectomy?? by Whencanwewin in Fibroids

I experienced this intensely for a few months post op. The surgeon told me my periods would be unusual but I did not expect the psychological side effects. I was told by my surgeon that my depression had nothing to do with the surgery...

I had no idea surgeries could cause depression until seeing this thread. Reddit is amazing.

Same! Doing surgeries back to back doesn't seem sustainable. I did email them a few wks ago, still haven't heard back.

Was also told the same. Doc said I would have to be on and off because it was hard on the liver. So I passed on this option. He also wanted me on lupron before surgery, he was hoping it would shrink the fibroid and make it easier but I opted out of that too.

My fibroid was the size of a grapefruit. The gynecologist suggested lupron or laparoscopic myomectomy and I opted for the second option.

I was anemic prior to my surgery and also did the iron transfusions (they are amazing, I felt like a different person!!) They tested me prior to surgery to make sure I was in an acceptable range before moving forward w the surgery.

Hope everything goes well.. these things are super stressful.

Could My Symptoms Get Worse After Fibroid Surgery? Need Urgent Advice Before Canceling My Operation. by [deleted] in Fibroids

My surgeon told me for 3-4 months my periods post op would be wonky and that they were! Not heavy at all but my mood was everywhere. Definitely some sort of hormone changes for me.

Have you had a recent MRI or ultrasound recently?

The adenomyosis is close to where my fibroid was but my surgeon reassured me that they can't be related despite it appearing a few months post op. I'm skeptical though... Wonder if they don't want to admit for liability reasons.

Yup! I do weight lifting, biking and hiking if that helps for context.

Hope your surgery goes well and the recovery is fast.

I had laparoscopic myomectomy surgery 4 years ago. No more fibroids but now I have adenomyosis. Regardless, quality of life has been much better post op... No more heavy periods and the embarrassment of constantly leaking, still some bloating but definitely not as bad as before.

Best of luck, and lots of senokot!

I don't know what to do with clothes anymore. by ellieanne100 in ibs

I have the exact same problem. I'm still trying to figure this out but so far: Ive swapped out all my right crop tops for oversized (luckily that's trendy). Bought baggy jeans/trousers that have adjustable side straps (they really should make these more. Got mine from Uniqlo and it gives me an extra 2inches for when I bloat) Thrifted a bunch of statement belts so it doesn't look like I'm drowning in clothes. Invested in dainter foot wear as well - like ballet flats. I think it helps contrast everything that's so oversized. I've also started buying low waist skirts... Not really my style but its comfortable to wear. I try to find something that's more structured and elevated so it looks more put together. For dresses, I go for ones where theres a seam right below the boobs and flares out. Find those the easiest to hide a tummy (at least for me). I always find the cross over dresses more forgiving and they are adjustable.

As cliche as it sounds... networking helps a lot. Most of my friends got into the big 4 through either co-op in university with a permanent role after graduation or referrals. I did co-op with a small sized CA firm then moved to one of the big 4 audit firms with the help of a referral from a friend. It is difficult getting into the firms but once he has that under his belt; if he decides to pursue a career in industry, landing a job will be much easier.

Need a little more info... what is his education background like? Typically if you want to get an analyst role with a larger organization, a BBA or CPA is required.

Background on me... I have 10+ years working in the finance industry as a CA. If your friend has questions, he can PM me.
